Kieran looked in the rear-view mirror at the figure huddled in the back seats. It had definitely been a bad idea to continue to comply with Charlie's request when Rêverie was already in a bad mentally.

Not only were Arien and Aelan in the hospital with severe external and internal injuries, but Dashiel had also just been injured. Things were getting worse and Rêverie seemed on the verge of losing control as she clung tightly to the guitar case.

“They're going to be fine,” he reassured, even though he didn't really believe it himself. “Besides, Griffin is with Sora.”
“But I can't bring them or even visit them…” she murmured, tightening her grip without damaging the instrument, “Otherwise everything will be fucked up.”
“Just until they call Charlie, after that you can be with them as long as you want. We can't let him get suspicious or....”
“Or get his attention, yes, I know. He's your father's follower, after all,” she mumbled, closing her eyes helplessly.
“They should have called Charlie this morning after identifying Aelan as Eliza, so he won't take too long in calling you,” Kieran reassured, looking at the road as he tried to ignore his last words. “Just wait until he recovers from the news.”
“Well, then he should make it quick.”

Kieran sighed, speeding home faster. Rêverie still needed a place to release her magic.

“There's something else bothering you.”
“That vampire... the one with the southern accent,” she said, looking up with impotence and annoyance. “He can feel emotions, he felt mine that... that's why he also fell at the same time I did. I can stop them from reading my mind, but my emotions... that's new. I don't know how to avoid it,” she admitted, clicking her tongue in disgust at the memory.

That southern vampire had walked beside her since they got off the bus as they chatted about various topics of interest they both had when it all happened.

“Are you planning to take care of him?”
“Forget it,” she replied a few minutes later, “after all... They're just a bunch of useless vegetarians.”

Kieran allowed himself a smile as he saw that Rêverie had calmed down a little when she talked about other people. He thought they might not be as useless as she thought if they could distract her.

“I'll see if we can go faster with the plan.”

He would have Griffin come to Forks quickly if Dashiel survived and was stable. Then there would be no problem changing the person in charge of Dashiel.

“Iffin sounded terrified and guilty,” she mentioned, recalling her subordinate's trembling voice as he informed her of what had happened.
