There was mockery in Rêverie's tone, but the vampires could only feel the liquid running down their throats. Contrary to their fears, they had no desire for more blood or they were about to attack the only human in the place.

“What... what was that?”

“A small gift. Rumi,” she spoke, placing her palms on the teenage girl's shoulders, “over here wanted you to experience things of human life again. In other words, I have reconverted you.”

“What?”

“Okey. This is too much information for me.”

However, Edward seemed unable to hear what was going on around him, whether it was the surprised voices of his family or their thoughts. His mind could only focus on the blond-haired man who smiled politely.

It wasn't Rêverie's words that made him drink the contents of his glass, it was the look on the man's face, silently assuring him that everything would be all right.

He realized it from the moment he caught his scent, he was the cause of his confusions towards Rêverie, Arien and Aelan. The scent was not coming from them, it was coming from him. That scent that called to him as a mate came from him. His mate was him, not Bella.

“Could you stop looking at my brother like that?”

Rêverie's grip on his shoulder tightened as she watched him with the desire to tear his head off. As if she had been able to read his mind.

“Erie, calm down. You're going to end up hurting him.”

“Nero, stay out of this.”

“Thoughts can't hurt anyone, Erie.”

“His can,” she mumbled, letting go of Edward's shoulder and also freeing herself from Kieran's grip. “Let's go for now, she's here.”

“Edward, go tell her to go,” Narumi ordered, taking Rêverie's hand as she let the vampire into her mind.

However, it was already late, Isabella's footsteps in the house were approaching and with them Rêverie's bad mood increased, causing Jasper to also begin to feel annoyance out of nowhere.

“C-Charlie? W-What are you doing here?”

Isabella's face broke down for a moment at the sight of her father sitting on the sofa, but it did even more when she saw Eliza near him. She was smiling with slightly awkwardness as she greeted her with her usual cheerful attitude.

“I thought... you were gone,” she mentioned, stepping back unnoticed as she avoided contact with Eliza. “What are you all doing here?”

“Let's continue our conversation another day, Charlie,” said Rêverie, taking Aelan's hand.

Rêverie's magic enveloped the five of them and they soon disappeared without a trace.

But what caught Edward's attention was not the disappearance of his newfound mate, but the new mind he could read. It was thinking fast, guessing endlessly, and screaming too. A lot. It was making plans non-stoply, but her face showed no change, just an awkward smile and a confused, surprised look on her face.
