7 : N A N C Y

I stayed with Steve for the entire party. Then it started dying down and I looked at Steve.

"You want me to take you home?" He asked and I shook my head, "Steve... I'm breaking up with you."

Steve looked at me and I frowned and looked down, "Was it something I said? Was it the punch on your sweater? I can get you a ne-"

"No, it just doesn't feel like it did when we started dating."

"What does that mean? He asked desperately, "Do you want me to change?"

"Steve, I just think it's best for us to just take a break. I need to find who I am as a person because now all I am is Steve's girlfriend."

He frowned and sighed walking away. I had hurt him, but it was the truth and I had to find Barb, I haven't seen her since going out shopping with her and Hailey, and I needed to find her. I went on a walk back to my house, but on my way there I saw Barb's car.

"Shit, did she go into the woods?" I thought to myself and I walked into the wood calling out her name, hoping someone would answer back. For a while I kept calling out her name with no answer, then I saw something run by, it scared the living shit out of me. I don't know what it is, it looked like a bear. It was a big black shadow. I kept running away from where I saw it and ran into the road and was almost hit by a car.

Jonathan Byers almost hit me with his car.

"Shit, I'm sorry are you okay?" he asked rushing over to me, "Nancy?"

I looked at him and nodded, "yeah, I'm- I'm fine"

"I wasn't expecting you to run out, let alone out of some woods, Do you need a ride?" He asked me out of courtesy

"Sure."

He opened the passenger side door and put the small stack of papers on the dashboard and smiled then returned to the driver's side

"You sure you're okay?" he asked again before he began to drive

"Yep, I'm fine." I said taking one of the sheets of paper, it was a missing poster of Will, his little brother who's best friend with my brother, "Still haven't found him yet?" I frowned

"Nope, and mom's going crazy saying he's in the lights and that she saw something in the walls" He sighed

I looked at him, "like a monster? Was it tall?"

"Nancy, you can't honestly believe her, can you?" He looked at me like I was crazy, "I was in the woods looking for, Barb and I saw this shadow and it looked like a bear, but I don't think it was any bear." I spoke honestly, "No, it was strange. I probably sound crazy, but if that's the thing that took Barb and Will, we have to find it and we have to kill it."

"So what? We're just going to go monster hunting? We don't have much." Jonathan tried to ration with her as he pulled into her driveway.

"Just pick me up tomorrow afternoon, and we'll buy stuff."

"And if we don't find that thing?" He asked and I shook my head

"It doesn't hurt to try, right?" I shrugged and flashed him a tight lipped smile. "See ya, tomorrow Jonathan."

He nodded with a slight wave and drove off. I went up to my room to fill out a diary entry;

Oct 31, 1984

Today the day started off great. Hailey came over and we got ready together. We wanted matching costumes, and Hailey wanted to go as dark gothy teens since it's very much out of our style, so I got a cheerleading outfit and she helped me make it more gothy with her dark eyeshadow pallet, and she went as a goth rockstar, which was very unlike her, but it was funny because she looked a lot like Eddie. She got a leather jacket to wear and a flannel under it because it was freezing outside, and under that a white tank top. It was very tight fitting, she said it was so Peter would pay attention to her, but she and Peter have been having problems, I don't think a tank top that flatters her boobs would fix that. She's constantly telling me about it, and I've told her that she should just rip the band aid off and tell him, but she's scared of what would happen after they break up. I thought about breaking up with Steve because it's become repetitive and there's nothing new going on, I actually went through with it and so did she. Hailey only broke up with him because she caught him cheating and had other people telling her that he had been cheating on her. I didn't know till today, but I've heard the rumors going around for weeks now. Then the fight between Peter and Eddie Munson broke out because Peter was definitely jealous of him, and because Hailey brought him up during their argument about the cheating. I broke up with Steve after she left with Eddie and for some reason, it felt really good. I feel free to do anything, I feel free to explore, which I guess is what I did today in the woods. I saw Barb's car there so I went in and saw some creature and Jonathan Byers almost hit me with his car, and then he told me about how hard Will's disappearance had made his mom crazy, and when I told him what I saw out there he thought I was crazy, but agreed to go searching tomorrow with me. I wonder if I should invite Hailey. She was Barb's friend too and she would want to be a part of this whole thing, but I don't know if she's busy with Eddie. Everything that's been going on in this town is insane I wish we could go back and help Will and Barb, but maybe we'll find something that would lead us to find them tomorrow. Anyway, that's all for today. Love, Nancy.

I place my diary in the drawer of the nightstand next to my bed, and I lay there before turning my lamp off. I just have so many questions about everything, and I want answers, but nothing's getting solved. I stopped thinking about it and turned to lay on my side, so I could possibly get some rest for the big day ahead of me. I couldn't and decided to call Hailey's house to see if she got home okay, and to make sure Eddie hasn't done anything to her, cause I still don't trust him enough.

So... Did y'all like Nancy's perspective. I thought it added a nice touch to the story!! I do think it's a bit repetitive because of the journal entry, but I don't know I think I like it. Let me know what y'all think. With much love <3
