. . .

It started pouring about halfway away from my house. Once I stepped foot in my house I packed up my things. I stayed there for an hour and a half and that's when the phone rang. I hesitantly went over to answer it.

"Hello?" I sighed

"Hailey, it's Nancy, can I come over?" She answered with almost the same tone as me.

I thought about it for a second, "Remember where I parked my car for the party? Meet me there, and pack your things." I said and hung up before she was able to say anything else.

. . .

I put my backpack on and began to walk to where I left my car, keys in my hand, the rain was light, but it dripped from the trees along my path. I walked there to find Nancy already standing there with her umbrella and things.

"You saw it?" I asked as she went in for a hug. It was tight and I couldn't help but feel my eyes trickle with new incoming tears.

"I was one of the first ones. It was Peter, Tommy, and Steve" She sighed and looked at me, "Where are we going?" She asked

"Away." I said simply, unlocking my car and putting my stuff before getting in myself. Nancy did the same. "I don't want to stay in a town where everyone looks at me like I'm a disgusting person."

"You're not. Trust me, it's Peter getting into your mind. Don't let it get to you." She said holding my hand and squeezing it softly

"Why'd they put you up there?"

"I broke up with Steve and he caught me with Jonathan Byers."

I looked over at her my eyes were widened with shock, "Wha-"

"It's not like that Hails, Jonathan and I went looking for Barb in the woods, and well I saw the creature. It looked almost human, but it had no head. Not a normal one at least."

"Huh?"

"I know it sounds absolutely insane, but Jonathan and I think that's what took Barb and Will and we were going to go hunt it down, but the cops got Jonathan because he started a fight with Steve."

"Hunt it down?" My mouth was wide open, "Damn, I'm not with you for a day and everything goes to shit."

"Right! What is up with that?!" Nancy said, throwing her hand up in defeat and slouched in her seat.

"You and Jonathan aren't together?" I asked as I began driving

She shrugged, "I think I actually like him a lot." She looked out the window, "He stayed with me all last night. I couldn't sleep with that thing in my mind constantly."

"I'm sorry I wasn't there." I frowned looking over at her.

"Don't be sorry Hails, I knew you weren't feeling good. I called your house and Eddie answered."

I didn't say anything.

"Hey, did he do something?" She asked me

"No, not at all." I turned onto Cherry Oak, "I bought him a pair of shoes, like the ones he had because I threw up on them. Then we walked and that's when I saw the sign... I broke down and walked away and he followed me, but then we had an argument." I paused taking another turn on Mulberry. "He told me he loved me... and I walked away."

"You what?!" Nancy turned to look at me

"I was panicking and the words, 'oh my god Eddie, I love you too, and honestly more than anyone in this stupid town and you make get butterflies to the point where I can't stop smiling because seeing you makes me so damn happy and I'm sorry I keep pushing you away. I tend to do that with the people I love so that I don't hurt them but I end up hurting them either way'" I rambled and stopped the car
