"Aw how sad.. A girl. Trying to call out your guardians." an unknown voice said. Laughing mockingly as Luxia tried to stand up. Yet she was unable to. "Don't try. It's futile." His steps were getting closer. He chuckled. "What a.. Hmm how do i say it.. Miserable sight. Seeing your mother bleed out while you were watching." he sighed, grabbing a dagger out of thin air. Spinning it around like a crazed person. "You still look like 16 years ago. Helplessly amongst your dying citizens.. Tell me... did you enjoy the show?." he laughed slightly as his eyes squinted. He kneeled down. Grabbing luxia's chin. She could feel his breath as his stark red eyes glared down upon her helpless body. "Let me go!" Luxia plead. Finally able to open her eyes, observing her surroundings, she saw nothing but a dark void of nothingness. "It's no use, little girl. You and I are the only ones here in this deep dark void." the man said as he leaned slightly forward, putting up the blade towards luxia's chin. Slightly cutting it. He chuckled again as he throwed luxia on the ground. The man sighed. "It's a pleasant thing that those damned gods cannot reach me here." he said, putting his hand against his face. Tears fell out of luxia's eyes, whimpering in fear she glanced at the man again. "Why did you do such horrible acts on us!? On our people! They did not deserve it!" Luxia said. Her soft voice echoed as the tears gathered around her eyes. "Those whom avoid coming face to face with uncertainty, are destined to walk a path of distraught and agony." the man said. Luxia could feel a painful throbbing in her body as she tried to stand up. The man smiled before kicking Luxia in her stomach. Luxia wrapped her arms around her stomach. She cried. She could not get a word out of her mouth as water covered her eyes. "Don't be such a hog. A young girl with beautiful stark white hair should not be crying." the man said mockingly. Swinging his dagger round and round on his index finger. "Danger always lies within those whom cannot hold their wrath." Luxia closed her eyes as the pain worsened. Her hair covering her face as she turned her head around. "It seems I have used all my time for today.. Do not forget. I will always find a way to make you suffer. Just like your mom and your dad.. Hmm maybe your guardian Veranos would be an extravagant participant no?" the man said as he kneeled back down again towards luxia. "You will not lay a finger on Veranos!" Luxia screamed out loud. But it was in vain as the man had already disappeared. Leaving her alone in the vast empty darkness she laid within. As she looked around feeling herself regaining control over her body. "Come back!" she screamed again. Tears falling out of her eyes as she kneeled down. Punching the nonexistent floor beneath her screaming in agony and despair. She whimpered. Silently saying. "You will not lay a hand on veranos" she shrieked. As she thought back to the day her kingdom fell, all the people. Screaming in agony as their families were torn apart. Huge beasts tearing buildings and markets apart. Pulverizing it to the ground. She felt a huge sense of guilt. Seeing her mother die at the hands of a man, a man who had lost all sense of empathy. Had no remorse. No guilt for all the innocent lives he had slain. She could remember vividly the man laughing as her mother dropped on the ground. Her lifeless body. Staring at her as the man pulled out his sword. She could remember crying, shrieking. Yet it was all in vain as her kingdom had fallen. Flowers withering as the trees had fallen. Her mothers favorite flowers. All burned to ashes. "I'm so sorry mother. I am so sorry for not doing anything to save you or father." she cried out. "I'm so sorry, please forgive me" she said, covering her face with both of her hands. Her cheeks. Stained with tears. "What? So you're telling me that when the king leaves for the secret sort of meeting. Strange things occur?" Veranos said as he put down his fork on the table. "Not exactly the term I would use but.. The king has a lot more in his shadow than what he is showing on the outside. His facade has been slowly collapsing." Zelana struggled to bring out the exact words she wanted to say to not cause a fight. But sighed and embraced it as she said "a long time ago. When the king had a son... he purposely executed him for the sake of enjoyment. The people were disgusted by his act so they protested him to leave the throne. But during the late nights. Masses of citizens were reported missing under unknown circumstances. until that one time the king was caught cutting one of his opposers in the throat. The screams of agony that came out of that man were heavy enough that even I had remorse of not intervening. But seeing my status as a servant. I had no choice but to keep my tongue tied, otherwise I would have met the same fate as that man." she sighed looking down towards her hands that were resting on her lap as she sat on the chair opposite of Veranos. Veranos sat perplexed. He never would have thought the king would do such horrible and maniacal acts. He was at a loss of words. He only remembered that kid which smiled and laughed at the silliest jokes he could hear. "Which reminds me" Zelana looked back up at Veranos. "The ones who destroyed your kingdom.. The so-called cult. Are the kings allies" do you know why karlaz and dreiss never brought a letter to us? Informing us of the current situation?" "But they did, right?" Zelana shook her head. "No, it was only a cover up." she said as she stared out at the window,at the snow which was falling in masses. "I don't understand.." Veranos said. Trying to figure out what Zelana was trying to tell" but before she could explain to him in more context. Two guards ran into the room. Exhausted beyond comprehension. Trying to catch their breaths. One guard stood up. "Mam. and sir!. We are being attacked." Zelana and Veranos glanced at each other confused. "By what?" Zelana asked. "Colossal juniyarks! Mam." Her eyes widened. Realizing the immense danger they were in. "gather all men at the front gate. I want archers and long range catalysts!." the guards nodded and walked out of the doorway. "Juniyarks?" Veranos asked. Oblivious to the impending attack. "Giant four legged animals with the capability of taking down our defense wall." she said as she hastily gathered her equipment. While putting on her black armor with border roses on the top, Veranos realized she was one of the elite jormungers, "you are a jormunger?" "not exactly. I am a long range bow wielder. But I excel in combat." she said as she grabbed her bow. Its long length amazed Veranos. Its delicate and intriguing design. Veranos could not help but gaze at the maiden who was now wearing full Jormunger armor. "You can come with me or stay with lanei and the others" Zelana said. Walking towards the door as she glanced back. Veranos looked at his old wrinkled hands for a bit before nodding "i will go with you" "so be it" As they approached the front gate, she could see the giant juniyarks in the distance. Its giant tusks, the length of two whole carriage's. Able to take down masses of troops in one swing. "All men! Stand in your position! Be ready for a full force attack!." Zelana screamed out loud. All the men ran towards their position. Awaiting Zelana's approval. As the giant mammoths approached the golden arched gate. The men aimed in the sky, as the catalysts opened their books. Zelana stared at the mammoths. Waiting for the right time to strike. "Now!" Zelana said. Pointing her fingers towards the mammoths. The archers released their arrows. Making it fly towards the sky before impaling the mammoths on their backs. One mammoth roared in agony as the other charged towards the catalysts. But before it could pierce them. A bright blinding light lit up Veranos's eyes. In seconds the mammoth dropped to its side, its lifeless body. Unmoving as more of them approached. Veranos could hear a man beside him say "may the immortal god help you" , it's dark black cloak covering his face as another large blast hit another mammoth. "Charge your fire arrows!" Zelana said as she pointed again at the mammoths. The knights pointed their arrows towards the sky. "Now!" The sky lit up as both a hellfire of arrows rained from the sky, together with the blinding beams of the catalysts alse charged. The mammoths roared as one by one fell down. Diminishing their numbers to the last remaining mammoth. "We are out of arrows mam!" one knight said as he pointed at the empty basket of arrows and kerosene. As she glanced towards the catalysts. She saw that they had no more strength in them, one of them even fell down as their headache worsened. Gritting her teeth she grabbed her bow. Closing her eyes as she pointed slightly above the sky. "I got you now. Grandes shihalien" as she released her arrow, a large fiery red beam appeared out of the sky. Impaling the mammoth in the head as the arrows hit between its dark black eyes. As it fell down on the flat grass meadow. She sighed in relief. Before realizing a dagger had pierced her through her stomach. Piercing through the armor, "what?" she said as she spit out a dark crimson red blood. Staining her armor. She could hear a dark maniacal laughter as her vision faded slightly. "Remember me?" she glanced back. A man was holding veranos. Covering his mouth as Veranos struggled to free himself. "I said I would come back." the man said. Watching her fall down. Blood poured out of her body as she struggled to call for help. "Don't worry you will not die. But I guess you will have an agonizing feeling before you get help." the man said. His dark blonde hair covering his face slightly as he laughed at her. His sarcastic and mocking laughter made Zelana more livid yet she could not bring up a hand as the pain throbbed in her stomach. Making her spit out more blood. One of the Catalysts noticed and yelled at her fellow catalysts. Screaming "lady has been attacked!" all the catalysts turned and pointed their book towards the two men. They could only laugh. "Those sad little books? Do you all really think that could defeat us?" "charge!" one of the catalysts said. Beams of light pierced Zelana's eyes. As she covered them up she felt a slight burning. Then in a split second the light dissipated. She could hear everyone gasp in confusion. As she opened her eyes. She saw that Veranos laid unconscious on the wet soil. the men who were standing behind her were seemingly gone. No trace was left of them. Only a dagger which was still impaled in her stomach. "Help sir Greand and mam cortif!" one of the knights said. They all ran towards the two. Placing Zelana on a carriage. One of the knights tapped 3 times on the wooden wall. Loud enough to make Zelana dizzy. The carriage walked away as she saw Veranos and her being separated. Not knowing what dangers lie ahead.as the possibility of her bleeding out increased even more.
