A/N: sorry for the cliffhanger (i'm really not)
and chapter 20!!

(Marci's POV)
———————-
"But there's something I have to admit if Im going to continue."

I sit up, ready for the question. There's so many ways to answer it, but under no circumstances, do you blow a cover.

"Ok, what is it Nat?"
"Well, I never had any doubts about you, but Wanda, and don't kill her please because that means I told you, had me put a bug in to, well," she stumbles trying to finish her sentence.

I finish the sentence for her, "Spy on me."
She just looks down, not wanting to look at me. Luckily, being good at reading people means that I can read her, and she doesn't feel good about this. I may begin to understand why, and she was just doing what she was told to.
It should be Wanda that I'm watching. Natasha's going to most likely believe me, after all, she's telling me this.

"I'm on your side," I put on the smile I have been this whole time. This has to be the most convincing I've ever been.
"I know you had to do that. There's a test to be here, there's a test anywhere, I'd test me to," I reassure her.
I try to reach out to her, but she pulls back.

"What's wrong?" I take my hand back, not meaning to make her uncomfortable.
She looks down, barely getting out a whisper. "How mad would you be if I don't 100% believe that?"
"I don't know, I guess it depends why you don't."
"Because, well, Wanda came to me a while ago, asked my opinion about you. I said that I had no reason to believe otherwise, you checked out-" she covers her mouth, like she wasn't supposed to say that.

"Don't worry, everyone does background checks."
"Forget that, anyways I said it'd be pretty hard to communicate back since you moved in. I believe you, I want to believe you. The bug, though, Wanda said she'd gotten nothing off it."

I relax a little, but the way she said it still leaves me with questions. Questions I won't ask, though, because that could make me look bad.

"Well, there's nothing to get off it," I try to reassure her confidently.
"Mission, out," she blurts out almost faster than I can comprehend.
"Huh?" I act confused, although inside, I know exactly what she's talking about.

When Fury asked me if I wanted out of the mission when I mentioned Wanda had proposed I move in with them.

"Mission," she says slower this time. "Out. Are you on a mission?" Natasha presses.

"No, that was right after Wanda had asked me to move in," I begin explaining, luckily having a plausible story to back it up. Convincing one, at that.
"Mission and out in the sense of a mission to pack everything up and get out of the house," I finish, smiling a little to fake sincerity.

This time, Natasha's the one to relax, and she seems relieved, I would to if I were her. I don't know what I would've made up if I didn't have that. Luckily, I didn't have to find out.

"Sorry, I just, it was eating at me. I had to know."
"Of course," I say as we both stand up to head back in. Everyone's out on drop-offs now, so no one's there to question what we were doing luckily.

A few minutes later, Thanos walks through the door coming back from his drop off. He looks a little tired, making us look at him out of confusion?

"What?" he asks us, plopping down onto the couch.
"Oh nothing," Natasha replies. "You just look a little extra tired."
"Tell my customer that. Decided it would be a good idea to sort out the next drop in person, and not over the phone like always. Talked on and on, I couldn't get rid of the guy every time I tried."

"We've all had one of those," I make an attempt to make him feel better a little bit. Those type of people are definitively on the list of most annoying, like, I don't want to talk to you anymore, I want to go home now.

He goes into the kitchen, grabbing some chips and the TV remote.

"We're watching a movie. At least I am, so you can join if you want," he looks over as if he just remembered we are here too.
"Ok," I boost myself up from the couch, and grab drinks and a popcorn bag for Natasha and I to share.  She thanks me as I sit back down, taking a handful of popcorn.

"Ooh, how about that one? That looks good," Natasha covers her mouth so she doesn't lose any popcorn.
"Avengers Endgame?" Thanos reads the title to double check.
"Yes," she says clearer now.

"The name does pull you in, with endgame and all," I back her up. "I've heard Marvel movies are pretty good too."
"Ok," Thanks agrees, clicking play onto the movie.

Right as the opening credits end, and the Marvel logo zoom starts, Loki walks back in, looking at the TV and back at us.
"Without me?" he puts his hand to his chest in fake hurt. "How dare you?"

"It's just starting so technically not without you," I smile, making a good point.
"Ok ok at least let me get a drink," he runs off to the kitchen quickly.

When he gets back, he motions for Natasha to move over, which means that she's even closer to me. Not that I'm complaining.

Sometimes we would look over at each other and throw each other popcorn, to see if we could catch it. Most of the time we failed, but it was still fun and the others eventually joined, wanting to claim that they were the best at it.

---

Looking over my shoulder, I see that sometime during the movie she fell asleep, and her head was resting on my shoulder. Carefully putting the popcorn bowl down, I guide her so she's laying over my lap, where I can pick her up bridal style.
Thanos and Loki are giving me looks as it it's my problem, and I give them one back, but in reality, I don't mind, I'd do this any day all day.

I manage to not wake her up somehow, so I walk down the hallway to her room. Slightly pushing her door open with my foot, I see Loki squeeze into the room first and I'm about ready to kill him. I'm the one carrying a person.

"Just thought I'd help I felt bad," he pulls back Natasha's blanket and sheets.
"Oh, thanks," I say in surprise, thinking he was just trying to be annoying.

I lay her down, her head on the pillow as she stirs a little. I immediately stiffen, hoping that nothing woke her up. She just moves a little, but goes back to sleep which I'm thankful for. Finally, I pull the sheets back up to make sure she's comfortable before heading back to my own room, changing into pajamas, getting under the covers to sleep myself.
