Bonnie gives me a reassuring smile before running down the stairs to answer the door.I don't dare to say a word because I'm worried Damon could hear me. That would definitely ruin the surprise.
Caroline listens to their conversation to know when to send me downstairs. Out of nowhere I start to sweat and I feel ten times more nervous.
What if he freaks out? What if he doesn't like how I look? What if he doesn't love me anymore...
No, Elena. That's stupid. He'd never think that.
Would he?Damon's POV
Bonnie called me and told me to get my ass over to her house. I resisted but she pretty much forced me so I apologised to Stefan and Ric and left the Grill.
I stood on the front porch of Bonnie and Enzo's house. It really was a cute, little home.
A green, wood panelled two bedroom house surrounded by trees, with white wall trims.
It reminds me of what Elena described as her 'dream home'.Just thinking of her makes my heart ache.
I told myself the pain would get better.
The longer I went without her the less pain I'd feel. But that didn't happen.
The pain stayed, lingered, feeling the same maybe worse. But I learnt to deal with it.Life now is mostly a living hell to put it blatantly.
But I carry on for my brother, for my friends, for Bonnie...and Elena.I will see her soon.
Not soon enough.
But soon."Earth to Damon!" Bonnie waves her hand in front of my face. I didn't realise she opened the door and was trying to invite me inside.
"Sorry. Just thinking." I let myself inside and sit on the couch. "Come in I guess..." Bonnie sits opposite me.
"So Bon Bon. What do you want?"
"You'd think me being your best friend and all would make you a bit kinder to me." She says.
I mentally chuckle.
I'd do anything for Bonnie.
She really is my best friend and I love her.But I'd never tell her that.
"Ha ha. Very funny. But answer my question." I tell her. "I have a surprise for you." She smiles.
A surprise?
She FORCED me to leave my day drinking session and drive to her house on a random Thursday to give me a 'surprise'?"A surprise? Really? You know what, thanks. What is it?"
"You'll see now." She replies and stands up.She looks over at the stairs and I'm confused as fuck.
But I wait because I just drove all the way here. Then, I see my 'surprise' and my heart sinks.
I honestly can't tell if I'm dreaming.
I feel like pinching myself but I don't.Because I don't want to know if it's a dream.
I want to enjoy it while it lasts. She's standing at the bottom of the stairs looking as breath taking as always. She's wearing a stunning white dress and matching white heels. Her makeup is natural like she always has it but seems like more effort was put into it?... I don't know.
And her long, dark hair is beautifully waved.
I've had many, many dreams of seeing her again.
Seeing the love of my life again.Though, this one seems real.
"Elena..." I mutter.
I can barely get the words out. Every time I've said her name in the past three years it has made me shudder and has worsened my pain.
