I couldn't breathe as the water rushed to cover my face, I had to get air but if I did they would see us. I held my breath desperately as the current of the river pulled me through a tunnel in the rock face, and with my hands I felt a air pocket above. I scrambled to get to the surface I gasped, beautiful air flowing down to my lungs but the rapids were fast and before I knew it I was back under the water, being consumed by the darkness. All I could see was a distorted blurred version of the rock tunnel. I had to find Miraak, what if the got him. I still clasped the bag with the mask in my hand and I could feel the hard press or the black book and skeleton key against my body in the satchel. I felt my face pierce through to the surface again and this time I tried to stay up. I desperately started to tread the water and after my face stayed up for about ten seconds I shouted with all my breath "MIRAAK!". I took a breath and my head went back under.
It wasn't long the water started to get shallower but even faster however I was able to life my head above the water enough to see what was ahead of me. It was the light at the end of the tunnel, there was a gaping hole at the end of the river with iron bars in the path of the river but what scared me most was the fact that the river just stopped. One word was in my mind. Waterfall!
I tried to drag my feet against the bottom of the tunnel but the water was two deep and the current to strong. Miraak wasn't anywhere to be seen, he could have already gone over the waterfall.
I desperately tried to grab onto the tunnel walls but a thick layer of slime made my hands slide off, and edge nearer to the end.
As I got to the light I grabbed hold of one of bars but the pull of the water was too strong. I didn't look down as I fell.
The fall was fast, and when I hit the water I landed in the pool at the bottom of the waterfall. My body tried to submit to the cold and drag me under with the current but I wouldn't let it take me. I swam against the current and when I finally got to the sandy bank on the edge of the river I collapsed and rolled onto my back.
Now wasn't the time to stop, I had to find him, I had to find Miraak. My hands coated in the fine sand I pushed of the beach and waded back into the water up to my waist. "MIRAAK!" I shouted just praying to the divines that I would hear a response. "MIRAAK!"
I started to think that maybe he had ended up down river, so I looked further down the bank and as I looked I noticed a outline on the edge of the water, the small waves splashing up against it, threatening to pull it back under.
My heart was in my mouth as I moved closer, taking small steps towards what I already knew. The light caught the edges of his chiselled face and I immediately started to run, the water spraying at my feet as I got near him. "MIRAAK!" I shouted where in my head all I was saying was please don't be dead. Why I was so concerned over this dragon priest was beyond me, I only needed him to get my thu'um back and after that I never have to think about him again. As I shouted his name again his eyes shot open and all he said was "What is it Alye? If you keep shouting like that the cultists will hear you." I stopped straight in my tracks. "You are alive?" I questioned and I was embarrassed by how much relief laced my words. He simply chuckled.
"It's going to take more than a river to kill me little dragon." He smirked and finally I realised that things were back to normal or as normal as they could be.
"Why are you just lying there in the sand."
"Aren't I aloud to?"
"We need to get moving before the cultists realise what happened." With that he got to his feet and we started to make our way to a small clearing in the forest.
When we got to the clearing we kept walking until the wintery forest disappeared and we reached a cobbled road littered with snow that no longer fell. We hardly talked on the walk to where we now set up a camp with the sun setting over the horizon, not talking as if nothing in the last few hours had happened.
I lay down on my bed roll and just hoped that tomorrow would be different, that maybe we could work together some how.
Miraak was in a bed roll of the other side of the fire, still awake, I could see the sun reflecting on his eyes. I sat up and stared directly at him and he stared back. "Miraak, teach me!"
"Teach you what?"
"Teach me how to do magic properly."
"Why the sodden interest little dragon." I scowled in response of his crude nickname and he just smirked back.
"If I get kidnapped again I want to know more spells incase I have no weapon again or if I don't have enough magica to use my bow spell." He just kept smirking at me and only answered with " I will only teach you more spells if you teach me how to do alchemy."
"Deal!" I said as I moved slightly closer to the fire. "When do we start?" I asked. "Tomorrow at dawn." He stated and went back to staring at the sky and the stars.
A/N: Finally they are out. But now there is a new villain out to get them. What did you think about Miraak wanting to learn alchemy. And Alye learning magic. Please say what you think will happen next and don't forget to vote. BYEEE.
