Once realisation had hit there was no going back, literally. They were stuck here in 1983, in a place she should call home, it was a deranged version of the place she loved most.
They were all scrambling for clues and anything else to confirm their arousing suspicions, as though the dated journal and lack of items in the bedroom weren't enough but once they heard Steve's desperate pleas they raced downstairs, for Phoebe it was more of a one-legged race but she managed.
"Dustin? Dustin? Hello? Can you hear me? Dustin?" He pleaded waving his flashlight around and staring at the walls, Phoebe raised her brow hesitating forward.
"Maybe he really does have rabies.."
"Hello! Hello?" He continued.
"Uh, Steve?" He turned in an instant his flashlight blinding her for a moment, she shielded her eyes "Was that seriously necessary Harrington?"
"He's here. Henderson, that little shit, he's here. He's like... he's in the walls or something. Just listen..." He begged panting for breath, Phoebe drowning him out trying to figure out what he was talking about, trying to see if she could hear him as well but it was hard when Steve continued to scream Dustin's name.
"Can you hear me? Dustin?!"
"That brings us to the question you first raised"
"Holy shit!!!" Phoebe beamed "Dustin?!"
The other three gawked at them scrambling around as Phoebe now joined in on Steve's chants trying to pinpoint Dustin's exact location.
"Wait I can hear him?" Nancy said, Eddie and Robin nodded once Dustin's voice got seemingly louder.
Phoebe moved cases around and even flipped the table as though she would find Dustin lying underneath, she giggled lowly watching Eddie flick back a curtain.
"Hey don't laugh at me just flipped the freaking table" He groaned.
They now all chanted his name trying to desperately get the young boy to hear them.
"Okay either this kid can't hear us or he's being a total douchebag."
"Will found a way," Nancy said.
"What?"
"Will..." Phoebe began "He found a way to speak to Joyce through the lights..."
It all clicked at once, they could communicate with Dustin and not with words but with the lights just as Joyce did with the Christmas lights she had strung up on her wall, it was starting to look up for them.
"Lights... Yeah..."
Nancy ran over to the lamp flicking it but it didn't seem to work there was not even a small glimpse of a spark emitting from it.
And it wasn't until Steve shone his flashlight up at the chandelier that all hope began to rise again, Phoebe clutched onto Eddie's hand as they looked closer to the glimmers. Slowly touching it, she giggled lowly as the sensation tickled her fingertips.
