"Start talking to them, getting in good with the Pures. They're going to start recruiting next year. Starting young is the only way to win. Kids are impressionable Matthew. Find someone who has an influence. Give them your voice. You'll finally make me proud."

"What if I fail?"

"Let's hope it doesn't come to that kid, he has her."

...

"She is amazing, very friendly. You'll get on just fine. I sometimes won't be here, so if you need help just ask Renee. She is always up for lending a helping hand."

"Thanks, mate, but I don't want to be a nuisance."

"Renee Potter is very selfless; you don't need to worry about that with her."

...

Matthew Wilson stood watching Renee Potter. He couldn't help but be upset with the circumstances. She whisked around the kitchen happily, meanwhile, he brooded over the plan. A plan he didn't want to go through with; it was tearing him apart. Matthew wasn't the best guy—he wasn't a bad guy either. Renee wouldn't see him as that soon enough. The brunet was told not to worry about it, but it was all he could think of.

"You're so quiet, here try this." Her hand came up to his mouth with a wooden spoon. Renee's other hand hovered under the spoon, just in case. Matthew accepted the sauce and hummed in satisfaction. "Good?"

"Are you kidding me? It's amazing, just like you." He stated boldly, Renee smiled brightly. Throwing the spoon into the sink before continuing the pasta sauce. "Your friend Lily, she's Muggleborn, right?" He wasn't going to bring it up now, but something has been stirring since last week.
"Yeah, why do you ask?" Renee strains the pasta and begins to make up their plates.

"You're a Pureblood, and you're... okay with her?" The plates were forgotten as the witch turned to face the taller boy. A look of disbelief upon her face. Ren could feel the anxiety running through her body, pooling in her hands. She rubbed them together to try and elevate the feeling.

"Of course, blood is blood. Where is this coming from?"

"Well... some of the guys have been calling you a Blood Traitor, and I don't know what that is. Kind of just banked it together with the greasy snake thing."

"Snape," she corrected, "and they're right, I guess. I don't believe in the blood purity thing that's rising." Renee's wand came out as she cast a warming charm over their food. "Here," she passed him his plate, "plus, I wouldn't be friends with you if I was prejudiced." They sat across from each other at the table.

"My father is really into the movement. My mom doesn't care as much but she does what he says." She sat straighter, never hearing him speak of his family. "Both of them are Half, making me Half."

"What he says?" Matthew adjusted in the seat, uncomfortable. A little truth among lies never hurts. Maybe it would soften the blow.

"Yeah, he's not the nicest. But he means well; just wants to see us succeed."

"Oh, I'm sorry. That must be hard." In good Marauder fashion, they interrupted the friend's alone time. James wearing a large smirk. He marched over to his sister, resting his hands on her shoulders as he stood behind her chair.

"Dear sister, Wilson. Just here for a late-night snack. But I can see you were as well." Sirius stood next to him with a smile. His chin stretched upwards to see what they were eating. Face falling when he saw. He loved Renee's spaghetti.

"Have it, Sirius. I'm not hungry anymore." She pursed her lips, a glare shooting James in the heart. Sirius graciously took the plate from her. He gave James a sorrowful look before stuffing his face. Renee's shoulders came up to hint at her brother to remove his hands. In which he huffed, before doing so.

"You are my saviour. I'm probably never having children... so Remus will name his firstborn after you." Sirius spoke, mouth still jammed with food. Matthew kept his gaze on his plate, not hungry suddenly too.

"Speaking of Moo—Mister Handsome, aren't you supposed to be patrolling with him?"

"Amos is covering for me," Renee replied shortly, grabbing Matthew by the arm, and pulling him away.

"So, she just didn't want to tonight?" Remus asked hoarsely. He hadn't had a real conversation in a while. Other than scolding the two burdens he's been left with. Peter hasn't been much help. He thought that Snape got what was coming to him. Which, he was probably right. But the fact that Renee went from talking to him nearly every day to not even looking his way, made him think otherwise.

"She said she just needed time to herself." Amos shrugged his shoulders, "and I'm not going to turn down Potter." Remus pulled a face at that. He couldn't tell what Amos meant by that and he didn't like it. The werewolf knew he had no right to be jealous, however it was like second nature to him.

"Are you coming back with me to the tower, or are you going to hide away in the basement?" A familiar voice rang out, causing Remus to push Amos toward an alcove.

"Lupin! They are the ones breaking the rules, why are we hiding?" The male Hufflepuff whisper-shouted at the Gryffindor. Remus just watched the two.

"No, I think I'm just going to walk you back and head to bed."

"Alright, want me to walk you instead?" Renee didn't reply instead a small sob was heard. Her back hunched over, as if she was caving in on herself. More crying followed and she looked like she was about to crumble to the ground."Hey, it's alright. Was it your brother?"

"I miss him." She choked out, "but I'm just so upset."

"You have every right to be Renny, he was in the wrong. As well as Black and Lupin. I understand why you want to keep your distance from them. If I was you, I wouldn't go back. All they are are bullies." The words Wilson spoke did not help. Renee's breathing became more rapid and shallow.
Renee finally let her anxiety take over. Having pushed it down all day, maybe even all week. She collapsed onto the floor. Her lungs are aching from lack of oxygen. "Ren, I don't know how to help you, can you stand?" No answer, "I'm going to get the matron." Remus and Amos exited their hiding spot. The taller boy looked at the other.

"Right, see you." Remus didn't wait for Amos to disappear around the corner. He quickly stalked towards the Hufflepuff.

"Ren, can I help you?" He asked politely, the girl was curled up in a ball, gasping for breath. "Sit up with me." He lowered himself beside her and wrapped his arm around her shoulder. Lifting her into a sitting position. His other arm came down onto her hand. Bringing it up to meet his chest. "Feel my breath. Match your breathing to mine." Renee closed her eyes and just tried to focus on his breathing. But the tingling in her hand came back. She ripped her hand away. "Okay... I might have something." His hand left into his robe pocket. "Here." Remus offered up a chocolate frog. He noticed that she made no move to grab it from him. "Open." Renee gently opened her mouth and he fed her the frog. She only took nibbles, but the action alone was enough to distract her.

"Do you want to talk about it?" She hesitated, "you don't have to, I get it."

"I just don't want to lose anyone. And I want to stay mad, but it's too much energy."

"Ren, I'm going to say this—at least from my perspective, you will never lose us. And you don't have to stay upset. That part is in your control. Getting rid of us, however, will never happen. No matter how much you want to." Renee for the first time in what seemed like forever, settled against Remus, feeling calmer. Her head landed on his shoulder and she sighed.

"You know, you'll never lose me too, right?" Remus smiled tightly. "Rem?" She sat back up, looking at him full-on. Oh, how he wanted to kiss her. Just to feel her lips again. At least one more time. "I know." She stated, her eyes not leaving him.
