"Just because she starts dating that Blood Traitor, doesn't mean she's not a slag!"
"She thinks she's all that with those boys hanging off her. She'll never be anything more than open legs."
"I wish someone would just push her from the Astronomy Tower."
Renee stood in the shower for what seemed like forever. Letting the water run down her body; hoping it would cleanse the disgusting things she overheard students saying in class. Even with Dorcas or Remus sitting right next to her, glaring at everyone, they still talked about her. Dorcas even got detention from the DADA teacher for pulling her wand out on one of the girls. The girl hoped that the insults would flow with the scalding water, down the drain. They didn't. They whirled around in her head, right when she woke up until just before she closed her eyes. Renny knew they didn't define her but she still felt the sting. Like someone had jinxed her.
"Ren—the ninny is here for you." Dorcas knocked on the door lightly, just enough to gain Potter's attention. She turned off the water and stepped out of the shower. Gently wrapping a towel around her body. After charming her hair and getting dressed she left the bathroom. Sirius stood in front of her, examining her outfit.
"I'm very flattered, love. You look amazing as me." It was Halloween and the couple decided to go as each other. Meaning Renee was wearing all-black, tight-fitting clothing. Whereas Sirius was dressed in a pink tank top and a black and grey checkered skirt. "You're just missing one thing." He pulled out a leather jacket from behind his back and gestured for her to turn around. The girl let out a chuckle as he slipped it on her. "Now it's perfect." He grabbed his jacket from her bed and threw it on before escorting the ladies to the Gryffindor common room.
"Wow Renny, or do I call you Sirius? You look amazing." Peter stammered, holding out a drink to both Hufflepuff. Making the older boy go get his own.
"Thanks, Pete, and Renny is fine. Don't want to be associated with that dog." They watched as the boy downed two drinks before coming back to the group.
"Yeah, that's why you're together and dressed as each other. Sirius, nice lump in the front." Peter laughed at his joke.
"He had to make his costume believable Pete," Renny commented, throwing her arm around Sirius' waist.
"Everyone knows Ren's packing," Black said as the girl led him to the makeshift dance floor. Taking their costumes very seriously, the Gryffindor was dancing in front of the Hufflepuff. Moving his hips to the song, as he would explain—enticingly. She just swayed behind him.
"When did you two get here? Didn't even say hello to your brother... How rude." James pulled Renny away from Sirius, sitting with her on the couch.
"Sorry deer brother."
"Stag."
"Well, I know you're stag, I was there when Lily rejected you." James huffed, leaning his head on her shoulder.
"Yeah, I don't know what I'm doing wrong." The boy rubbed his hand over his face. Both twins were seemingly not in the partying mood. They had spent all afternoon in the Come-and-Go room practicing defence spells. Their magic was low and so was their charisma. Renee was getting better but she felt like her advancement was moving slowly. James watched her fall too many times today from casting the knockback jinx on her. Her protego was still a bit delayed.
Sirius saw the two take one long drink at the same time. He knew they needed some alone time together. They just sat there in silence while the room around them had fun. Classic Potter Twin moping. Both didn't see themselves as adequate. Renee is being torn down every day by others' words and views of her. Her lack of ability in defensive spells didn't aid her self-esteem. James was reminded he'd never get Lily Evans to give him a chance. On top of that, all of Renee's problems pile on. He was the oldest. He was supposed to protect her and teach her. The teaching was a lot easier than the protecting. That's when he got the idea.
"We're going to make you an animagus." The witch looked at her brother and shrugged. "I'll do the work; you will just have to wait and then take the potion when it's ready."
"Alright, Jamie. But I don't see how this will help anything." In all honesty, James just needed a win. Of course, quidditch practice was going well and the team won their first match. But it wasn't a real win. He needed a win for their souls. Something that Renee will wake up every day and say "We did that."
"Let's go dance, Renny."
"You go ahead. I'm just going to talk to Remus." The girl walked up to the boy and tapped on his shoulder. He whipped around surprised at the contact. Remus had seen her before; he knew the context of her costume. But seeing it up close made him a little bit jealous. He could see the detail she put into it. Charming her bright, blue eyes to be stormier. Her hair is darker. But the biggest thing was the jacket that adorned her shoulders. Padfoot and Remus picked it out last Hogsmeade trip. Lupin knew it was for her, he knew she would wear it. Why did it bug him so much?
"Hey, Ren—you look great."
"Thanks. Are you having a good time?" Renee asked, pouring herself and Remus a drink. She quickly popped a couple of Berty Bott's into her mouth before grimacing. "Vomit."
"Yeah, I'm surprised we didn't do this last year." He chuckled at her expression and accepted the drink.
"I guess we were too focused on Siri's birthday." The werewolf nodded, suddenly not feeling like talking. Last year on Black's birthday Renee and him shared their first kiss. If only it hadn't been coerced. Renny interrupted his thoughts quickly saying something that made him uneasy, "James is going to help me become an animagus."
