CHAPTER 1

AUTUMN

I quickly opened my eyes and I immediately roam my eyes around the area. I was inside of simple room and the place is unfamiliar. I stood up when I saw a mirror. I looked myself in front of the mirror; scanning my whole body, most importantly, my hands. I have wounds and bruises but all of it were about to heal. The clothes I'm wearing was the clothes i had when i...what happened to me?

I stopped for a moment when i began to hear a familiar sound; the hiss of breaks and loud peep from their cars, the tune of birds chirping, footsteps of people outside, vendors walking and selling breakfast like bibingka, biko, puto. What just happened?

Wala akong masyadong matandaan. Ang huling naaalala ko lang ay may babaeng lumabas mula sa lagusan at ang lalaking dati kong asawa. Agad kong pinirmahan ang kontrata na aming hiwalayan dahil pinalaglag niya ang anak namin.

One thing I noticed right now is, I've became younger than before. I don't remember everything from the past, I only know those few traumatic memories I had with that man. I peeked outside and I plastered a smile when I didn't mistake from everything I've heard. Maraming tao, bumalik na sila. Ang dating sigla ay bumalik. Nakikita ko ang mga bata na nagwawalis sa labas ng kanilang mga tahanan at ang mga magulang nilang naghahain ng umagahan.

Because of happiness, I bursted a cry. I wiped my tears as I let out a soft chuckles. There are no dead places anymore. My smile faded when I heard a shout of a guy, calling  outside. I don't know who that guy is, but it looks like a teenager. I went downstairs as I opened the door to check the unexpected visitor. I blinked few times on the guy who's wearing school uniform because of his familiar features.

Pumunta ako sa labas pagkatapos saraduhin ang pintuan. Gulat niya akong tinignan mula ulo hanggang paa na parang hindi siya makapaniwala sa nakita niya ngayon. Hindi ko alam kung ano ang nakakagulat pero tinignan ko lamang siyang maigi.

He is tall and he has athletic body because of his arms. He is good-looking guy and he's wearing a backpack. I noticed the initial letters at the side of his chest and it seemed like a name of a school.

"Athena University," basa ko. "Do you need something? Who are you?" Agad naman siyang napanganga sa dalawang katanungan ko. May mali ba sa tanong ko at ganiyan siya kung maka-reak?

"Seriously, Autumn?" he said in disbelief. "What happened to you? Why do you have bruises and wounds? Did you fight someone?"

At bakit niya ako kilala? Pamilyar talaga siya pero hindi ko lang eksaktong maalala. Magaan agad ang loob ko sa kaniya noong unang pagkakita ko pero hindi ko talaga matandaan kung sino ba talaga siya.

"Do you know, Varden Pharmaceutical? It's a company," I asked. Nagtataka niya talaga akong tinignan. Binuksan niya ang tarangkahan at pumasok sa loob saka hinawakan ang dalawa kong braso.

"That famous company, yes. Everyone knows that company. Hindi ba nagtrabaho roon ang lolo mo? Retired na siya ngayon. Mukhang iniwan ka na namang mag-isa. Dinalaw mo na na ang kakambal mo sa ospital? Bibisitahin natin siya mamaya at alam mo bang may pasok pa tayo?"

Nalilito ko siyang tinignan. Ano ba ang sinasabi niya? Kapatid at lolo? Kailan pa ako nagkaroon ng ganoon? Parang pamilyar sa akin ang nangyayari ngayon. Hindi ko lang eksaktong matandaan.

I blinked when I realized his face; I remembered how Cradience tortured him inside of chamber and I'm screaming to stop. I kept crying and crying because I don't want him to die. When I finally stopped him, he gave me a glance and he slapped me. My friend is protesting to stop him from hitting me, and he did. Cradience just wiped the blood to his cheek while smirking on us. He left us being weak after his physical torture. That's all memory I've had from him, from this guy standing outside of this house.
