AUTUMN

“Try to look down, I will kill you like I did to your grandfather.”

Hindi katulad ang sinabi niya sa akin noon ngunit parang bumabalik sa akin lahat. I slowly raised my head up as I saw Cradience's face, who's seriously looking at me. The young face of him now is like the face of the man who locked me inside the dark chamber.

Cradience went to their table. I thought he will sit back again but he took the hot coffee from Kivione's hand. Narinig ko ang angal ni Kivione ngunit hindi siya pinakinggan nito. Agad niyang hinarap ang dalawa at ibinuhos sa pagmumukha ng dalawa ang mainit na kape kaya sila ay napasigaw dahil sa init nito. While they're screaming, Cradience pulled down their pants and the students here inside the cafeteria reacted. After pulling down their pants, Cradience used his left fist to punch them.

Their bodies created a bang to the floor because of Cradience's punches. Ang tatlo ay tumayo at itinaas ng dalawa ang kanilang mga pantalon at sabay-sabay na umalis kahit namimilipit pa sa sakit ng suntok niya. Without any words from him, he grabbed my wrist as we take the second exit of cafeteria. We left the students dumbfounded.

Nagpahila lang ako kay Cradience hanggang sa makarating kami sa club ng volleyball. Cradience opened his locker as he took something inside the locker.

"Next time you will fight against those bastards, make sure first that I'm not there watching you." He sounded mad. Pabagsak niyang isinara ang locker niya at seryosong humarap sa akin. He looked at me from head to toe before sighing.

"Don't use next time the uniform skirt of this university—"

"Baliw ka ba? Baka hindi ako papasukin!" mabilis na angal ko sa kaniya. He shot me a warning look so I stopped protesting. I remained shut, waiting for his words.

"They're disrespecting you," he calmly added. He removed his jacket as he wrapped it around my waist. "Use my jersey, give it back tomorrow. After one month of practicing volleyball, we have practice against Hera University. We will face their opponent so act like Auvinumn in front of them because they watched how Auvinumn works in volleyball. In real game, Auvinumn is dead serious. He's not a joke opponent. So I want you to act real, like him. I'll expect that from you, as partner of Auvinumn in volleyball. Listen to my instructions always, as the setter of volleyball. Are we clear?"

Why is he so scary?

Mahina lamang niya itong sinabi sa akin kaya napatango na lamang ako bilang sagot. Kaya ko gayahin si Auvinumn kapag nasa laro na kami ngunit kapag nasa harapan ko na si Cradience, parang napakahirap niyang gayahin dahil sa totoo lang, mas kilala ni Cradience si Auvinumn. Mas nakasama niya pa ng matagal ang kakambal ko kaya kilala na niya ito.

"Good." He looked at me again. "But I have something to admit..." he paused for a moment. Nag-aalinlangan siyang magsalita sa aaminin niya. Ano naman kaya ang aaminin niya sa akin?

He leaned closer to me, causing me to smell his perfume. His perfume is so manly. Bigla akong napasinghot sa may batok niya kaya napatakip ako ng bibig kasama ang aking ilong. Napansin kong tumaas ang mga balahibo nito sa batok dahil naramdaman niya ang pagsinghot ko. Hindi ko naman inaasahan na mapapasinghot ako.

"I'm a—"

"Hala, may naghahalikan!" Naputol ang bulong ni Cradience nang may narinig kaming nagsalita. Ang boses nito ay parang bata. And because of what the boy said, I abruptly pushed Cradience's chest causing him to lost his balance. Napaupo siya mismo sa sahig at agad akong napatingin sa batang nagsalita.
