My Daughter

I walked around the bunker, day two of isolation, and handed out food to the humans. As a dramatic change I'm waiting to see if everyone will stop being against each other and actually come together to help each other. I saw a little girl that was crying sitting on a bed. My heart kind of crashed; I walked over and sat next to her.

"Hey sweetie are you okay?"

She sobbed before trying to say "No...my parents..."

I rub her back "Where are they, honey?"

She pointed at the boulder and that's when it hit me. I rescued her out of a burning building. The poor thing, her parents didn't make it.

"Do you have a name?"

"My name is Maria."

I hugged her "Do you have a middle name or last name?"

She pressed her face into my shirt "I don't remember."

I pulled away from her "How about Maria Willow Delvaux."

She smiled "I like that name."

I took her over to my father and said "I'd like you to meet someone."

He looks at Maria "Who's this?"

I smiled "My adoptive daughter, Maria Willow Delvaux."

He bends down "Hello Maria, welcome to our family."

I picked her up and said "I'm going to the showers to clean her up."

Inside the showers as Maria was cleaning I heard a bloody scream come outside in the main rooms.

I ran out to see a Vampire trying to bite a woman "If anyone moves I'll bite her!"

The guy that I've been searching for all day comes behind that guy and snaps his neck "Take this as a warning...not to threaten any humans while we're in this bunker together. Or you will be answering me."

I decided to follow him to a corner of the bunker "Hey..."

He smiles "Well if it isn't Princess Elena."

I blush "I didn't get your name."

He rubs the back of his neck "Prince Arthur, son of King Edward and Queen Esmeralda."

My mouth drops "Oh-" I curtsy "your highness."

He laughs "Listen, don't tell anyone my name, not the 'Prince' part anyway. I don't want people calling me 'your highness' while we're down here."

I smile "You got it" he rubs his arm multiple times then I realize there's a dark stain through his black long-sleeve shirt "are you ok?"

He nods "Yep."

I grab his hand gently, not wanting to startle him "May I please help you? It could be serious."

He clenches his teeth before looking away so he doesn't see how bad the wound is. I moved his sleeve up so I could get a good look at it. Then I noticed there's more than just this wound on him. He has about five in total. One on his right arm, one on his right side, one on his left chest, one on his right calf, and one on his left thigh.

"Oh my gosh, what happened!?"

He sighed "I was lifting a car up off someone and the wind pushed me under it-" he pointed at the right side of his body "a whirling tree smacked me" he pointed at his left side.

I looked at him worried "May I please help you?"

He let out a huge exhale "Fine."

I get up to go grab some first-aids when a Vampire corners me in the corner where medical supplies are at.

"Aren't you a prize?" he licks his lips cornering me so I have no way to move. "You're Arthur's little play toy aren't you."

My eyes turn orange "Excuse you, I'm no man's play toy now get out of my way."

He gets close to my neck and tries biting me before Arthur comes from behind and grabs him by the throat.

"Now, now Keith. What have we told you about trying to bite nice and pretty young ladies" Arthur slams the guy into the wall "do not attempt to harm her when I'm around ever again."

Maria comes out of the shower "Mom?"

Arthur picks her up and carries her to where I'm at. I successfully cleaned his wounds and patched him up. Arthur is such a charm, helping the humans, protecting me, treating Maria with such kindness and respect.

He's not the worst vampire I've met and I've met a whole bunch of vampires throughout my years.
