Black eyes stared into the open mouth of a volcano. The scenery was surreal to him, painting a strange image. The colors were too bright and too intense, and the shadows too dark and too all-consuming. Sounds drifted through his sensitive ears- the sound of breathing, loud and steady above him.

Nothing made sense to him.

He gazed down at the volcano again. Carefully examining the miniature eruptions in the lave before throwing a rock into the molten mess below.

The strange breathing remained as the only sound now. Too loud for his ears, but the sound itself didn't make any sense. There was nothing around him, nothing above him, beside him, or below him.

A cough was heard again above him. The boy frowned tilting his gaze upwards and away from the mesmerizing lava below.

Suddenly the ground spun and the black sky darkened.

The boy stumbled back and was sure he would tumble down the side of the volcano. However, he only ended up sitting on the scorched ground that stretched around him. The fiery mountain no longer anywhere in sight.

The boy looked up again, not questioning the strange change in scenery. Instead, he wondered about what was above him.

"Took you long enough, brat," a dragon spoke from above him. A great fire covered his scales flickering and dancing.

"Took me long enough to do what?" The boy asked confused. The dragon looked at him with dry amusement and opened its mouth.

The boy's eyes widened as a burning inferno of flames rushed at him. The roar of the firedragon constantly coming hot and searing flames.

The boy rolled out of the way before jumping to his feet, suddenly realizing that his clothes were in shreds. He turned to the dragon who luged, flames replaced by shining metal scales.

"Fight!" The dragon bellowed smelling its clawed paw in the green grass they stood on. The movement caused metal spikes to shoot up from the ground, rushing toward the boy.

Reacting in the nick of time the boy jumped and spin around, "Chaos dragon's wing attack!" he called out.

The attack hit the white feathers of the female dragon and she roared in anger and pain. "Stop it, human!"

The boy landed gracefully on the ground and faced the fire dragon once again. Large slitted eyes looked at him from its lying position, the flames noticeably dimmer than they were before.

The boy found himself on his knees, panting heavily. Why couldn't he breathe?

"You won," the fire dragon calmly informed. "Will you kill me just like you did to everyone else?"

The boy looked at the dragon in confusion, but the dragon instead gestured for the boy to look down. The boy did as told, eye-widening as he found himself sitting on piles of bones and rotten dragon bodies.

"I was told to do that," The boy stated voice wavering. "But I can't do that to you."

The dragon raised a flaming eyebrow in curiosity. "How so?"

"I can't move," the boy answered truthfully, the bones below him weighing him down like chains.

"Why?" The dragon pressed.

The boy frowned and looked at his hands, only to find himself on the scorched and barren earth again. "Because you fought well, and I can't move just like you can't." The boy realized.
