"Wendy, please rest a little. You're overexerting yourself." Carla said, looking at the petite girl with a frown. Currently, she was healing one of the less wounded members."If you keep this up you'll-"
"I'm fine!" Wendy shouted. "I just need to heal him and then I can rest." Her skin was a little paler than usual and sweatdrops had formed at her forehead. As the soft green light died down, her arm limply dropped down beside her.
"Wendy!" Y/n said and ran towards her, palm already towards her forehead. She was slightly hot, and her breath was ragged. "Wendy, please listen to Carla. Your magic is low, you need to let it fill up before you continue."
None of them blamed her. After the news of Makarow's condition, and how Lucy's father was the one behind Phantom's attack... It was just too much. They all felt helpless. Their best fighters were either away or just barely recovered. Out of the woods, but not completely healed. Their magic levels were extremely low. A fight with Phantom now would be devastating.
The bluenette slowly nodded, but it was clear that she wanted to help more of her guildmates. "You've done as much as you could. They're all better now." Y/n said as Wendy reached an arm towards her cheek.
"Your eye- under your eye, something is glowing," Wendy said as Y/n looked confused before she gasped at the familiar feeling.
'Figures...' She thought, biting the inside of her cheek, before smiling softly at the blue dragon slayer. "Guess I need a break too."
"It's just... all my fault..."
At the sound of the sentence, Wendy and Y/n's ears perked up. Looking towards the source they saw Lucy still sitting on top of the barrel. In front of her leaning against one of the wooden poles was Gray and behind him stood Elfman. Exchanging a look, both Wendy and Y/n walked towards the small group to see what exsactly it was that was going on.
"Being target by dangerous people is just a downside of being rich." Elfman firmly stated arms crossed over his chest.
"Would you give it a rest already!? Show some compassion." Gray snapped at the youngest Strauss sibling, who flinched back. Had it been a different setting Y/n and Wendy would've chuckled. Despite being so fixed on being a cool and collected guy, Gray was a major softie.
"I wasn't trying to hide anything," Lucy said, brown eyes filling up with tears.
"I mean there's no way to bring up the fact that I'm a runaway in a casual conversation. I've been gone for a year and my father hasn't cared. Now all of a sudden he wants me to come home?" She said looking down at the ground.
Her whole figured trembled as her fist knitted themselves so much her knuckles turned white. "I don't want to go back there! Not to that horrible prison of a home! After my mum died... it's- I just can't!" Lucy sobbed out, tears streaming down both sides of her face.
"I wanna stay in Fairy Tail. I want to stay here with my friends. With my family. I don't want to leave. My home is here. But... I don't want anyone else to get hurt... "Lucy said voice going quiet again.
"Maybe that's why I should leave..." Lucy dejectedly whispered out. "Maybe I should go back there, so I won't put any of you in danger." She said, head dropping down to her chin like a doll with its strings cut.
"It would be for the-"
SLAP
The sound echoed through the guild as everyone looked at Lucy in shock. The blonde held her hand to her reddened cheek. A small red handmark was imprinted on it. In front of her stood Wendy, cheeks puffed, and eyes burning in anger.
