"Henderson and the Freak – who would have thought?" Robin was laying on my bed, providing running commentary as I was getting ready. I rolled my eyes as I slicked concealer under my eyes.
"Stop calling him that," I warned, tapping my under eyes. Her eyes were closed, her head still spinning from her hangover.
"It's just, like, monumental. Groundbreaking, even." I snorted and rolled my eyes. "Ugh, Y/N, why did you make me do all of those shots?"
"Are you actually going to help me get ready, or are you just going to be pathetic on my bed?"
She popped her eyes open, surprised that I was teasing her. Robin was wimp when it came to hangovers. She sat up and walked over to my desk chair, where Eddie's jacket was. She picked it up and started looking at the patches.
"I wasn't joking last night," she started. I looked at her, confused, as I tapped blush to my cheeks. "I really have never seen him without this jacket. Not once. He must like you a lot to have given it to you."
I flushed, smiling to myself.
"Just borrowing. I'll give it back tonight." Robin placed the jacket back swung my closet door open, starting the search for my outfit.
"What are we thinking tonight, Henderson? Ally Sheedy or Molly Ringwald?" I smiled, appreciating her reference to the movie I was bringing to Eddie's. She popped her head back out, "I guess Molly Ringwald, since she's who ends up with Judd Nelson."
She winked at me as I laughed at her joke, going back into the closet. I finished applying my mascara and went over to where she was, and she tossed some items to me.
"There you go, Molly. Go get changed."
"I don't get to review options?"
"Nope. Or you'll do that overthinking thing, and you are already overthinking, so let's cut out as much as we can," she insisted. I laughed, heading to my bathroom.
I pulled the white sweater over my head, tucking it into the long, black skirt Robin had picked. I traced the small daisy designs on the skirt, wondering if Eddie liked flowers. Robin knocked on the door, and I opened it to her handing me a pair of white Keds. I took them, smiling, as I sat on my bed to pull them on. Robin handed me a small pair of gold hoops, and I pushed them through my earlobes.
I stood, looking in the mirror in my bedroom, nervously smoothing my sweater. Robin put her arm around me, squeezing me for reassurance.
"You look great, Y/N," she stepped away, "Just missing one thing."
She grabbed Eddie's jacket, handing it to me. My chest burst again, and I pulled the jacket on. Robin smiled, giving a chef's kiss.
"Perfection. The freak won't know what hit him."
"Y/N?" I turned to Dustin, standing in my doorway, looking confused.
"Hey, buddy – what's up?" I smiled brightly at him. He crossed his arms.
"Why has Eddie been sitting outside of our house in his van for the last twenty minutes?"
My heart started picking up. I looked at the clock – 7:57. I smiled at the fact he had arrived so early.
"We're just going to hang out tonight!" I tried to say casually. I picked up my copy of The Breakfast Club from my nightstand and pushed past Dustin, trying to evade his questions that were bubbling up.
"I'm sorry, what?" Dustin followed close behind me. "Just you two? What are you doing? Where are you going? Is it a date? Are you going on a date with Eddie?"
