day 28 without max's voice.

My mom drives me to the hospital every other day after school, she drops me off and picks me up 2 hours later. Usually I bring activities for me and Max to do. Today, I brought the skateboard I bought not long ago so I could learn for Max while she's in recovery. I also brought random stickers that were laying around my house from when Erica was little. When the nurse let's me into the room, she sighs and closes the door behind her when she walks out.

"Hey, Max! How're you feeling? I brought some stickers to decorate your place a little so it doesn't look so bland." I say, to an unconscious Max, who I know can hear me, because I heard that people in coma's can hear what's going on. I place the stickers on her side table for a moment. I take my skateboard out of my backpack that was sticking out of it. 

"guess what?"

no answer. 

"I bought a skate board! I know you can't skate right now, but I bought one so I could be like you while we're waiting for you." I put the board onto the ground and hold onto the shelf on the wall, putting my right foot on the board. When I stand onto the board, trying to put my other foot on the back, the skateboard becomes unstable and I catch myself before I fall and the skateboard zooms toward the door.

"Maybe this isn't the best place to skate. That doesn't matter though, because we can just focus on the stickers."

I take a seat back into the cushioned seat that was moved there a long time ago that I call 'my seat' but Eleven takes it sometimes when she gets here before me. I take the sticker sheet off the side table and peel off a sticker that is a picture of a cracked skateboard with teal wheels on it.

"I brought these stickers specifically because they reminded me of you"

I take the sticker that's in my hand and place it on the cast on her arm, indicating that her arm is broken, just like the skateboard on the sticker. I take the skateboard with a hear design on the bottom and place it on her chest, right where her heart is. I smile after and wish she were to wake up right now.

But even if this were to happen, she wouldn't be able to see me. The doctors said when she wakes up she will be permanently blind. It doesn't matter though, because she doesn't been to see my love, she can feel it.  And I'm sure she can feel it right now, too!

I lean forward and kiss her on the forehead. When I lean back, I start to place the stickers everywhere. Some on her casts, some one the bed, some on the wall, and I placed the one that has two hearts next to each other on her forehead, right where I kissed it.

Before I know it, it's already time for me to go home.

"Next time I will make you a mixtape! Oh! And I'm gonna practice my skateboarding when I get home!" I say, packing my stuff back into my backpack.

When I walk toward the door, I hesitate to saying those three words. you know, those words.

"...I love you, Max, I'll see you later."
