i was zoned out in mikasa's beautiful gray-blue eyes. she felt a stare on her and she moved her eyesight to mine, causing us to make eye contact. i of course didn't notice until she snapped her fingers at me. when i caught myself, i looked away in an instant out of embarrassment and my face grew hot.
'how embarrassing!' i thought.
"hello? is everything alright?" mikasa asked me. i looked up at her, hesitant to answer.
"i- uh- yeah, i'm fine- alright- great-! good..." i stuttered. a sigh was released from the girl standing in front of me. the small tent (?) that we usually did our research in was not empty other than me and mikasa. the time was 1:13 am so of course everyone would leave by now. she took a chair and sat on the other side of the table that i was sitting at.
"you might not like me for this anymore, but oh well. if our friendship gets ruined, i'll get over it." she states. that was a flat out lie. she tells me all the time that she's deeply grateful for all of her friends especially me. so i hope what she is about to say isn't gonna make me want to push her away and out of my life.
"-me too!" i blurt out.
'oh god... what did i just do. am i about to confess to mikasa? is she about to confess to me?! no way, she probably wants to end our friendship.'
"oh?"
"i mean- um... y-you can finish what you were saying..." i tell her.
it was silent again, only the sounds of shuffling animals in the bushes outside and crickets.
"...i....you..." mikasa mumbles. i couldn't understand what she said.
"can you say that louder?"
"i love you!"
it went silent again. i looked at her with excitement, her face was bright red. she didn't make eye contact and only fiddled with her scarf.
"i- i love you too!" i told her. we finally made eye contact. a bright smile plastered on her face. "oh mikasa i've been waiting for this for a long time now. i admire you every day, i get jealous of eren and sasha, i get dreams of you, i absolutely adore you!"
mikasa opened her mouth as if she were going to say something but closed it again and just pulled me in for a hug and i hug back immediately.
