It's almost criminal I haven't done a bike-related chapter yet. Bike AU my beloved honestly

Once he was sure Tugger was safely secured in the basket and couldn't spontaneously jump out, Bdubs scratched him behind his ear. "All set?" He asked as he looked over his shoulder at Doc.

The hybrid affixed his helmet before giving a thumbs up. "All set!" He echoed.

"Okay! Now let's see if Hypno knows what he's talking about!" Kissing his fiance's cheek, he hopped on his bike to lead the way down the trail in the woods.

Their friend had expressed to them that he and Beef had traveled the various bike paths and that the yellow trail led to a beautiful cliffside view overlooking the city. So when given the free time, the engaged pair headed out with their cat.

It had been a bit since either rode a bike, but thankfully Bdubs found the muscle memory kicking in. He was being extra careful, considering he was the one carrying their pet. Since it was so late in the day, the weather was beginning to cool off, leaving behind the perfect temperature.

With a slight breeze rushing by, Bdubs pedaled along. For the most part, the path was smooth, but he was still careful to avoid the occasional rogue stone and branch. Tugger seemed to be enjoying himself; sitting up straight with his eyes closed, enjoying the wind created by the speed of the bike. Occasionally he'd look around, sniffing the air.

"How ya doin' back there?" Bdubs asked. He found Doc to be riding in tandem beside his back wheel. Unable to stop himself from giggling, he was amused by how focused he seemed to be on not falling.

"Oh! Um, good, I think? I've been thinking I should stall back a bit so in case I fall I don't knock you down in the process," he explained once he realized Bdubs was talking to him.

Still looking forward to help his balance and ensuring he's going the right way, Bdubs assured him otherwise. "No no, it's okay! You just gotta give yourself more credit!"

He may as well have cast a magical jinx on Doc as not even a few minutes later, he heard worried noises followed by a crash. Quickly breaking and hitting the kickstand, Bdubs glanced back to find his fiance on the path with his bike laying over him. Worry washed over him as he hopped off and crouched by his side, though he was thankful for the first aid kit he knew was riding with Doc.

Thankfully, the hybrid began to laugh as he titled his head back. "You cursed me," he teased.

Cracking a smile, Bdubs stood the bike up before offering a hand. "Well I can't say I'm marrying you for your balancing skills," he teased right back as he helped haul Doc to his feet.

With the close proximity between their noises, the stupid grin on Doc's face felt contagious. "No, I guess you're just marrying me because you love me, huh?"

A part of him hoped the giddiness about getting married would never fade.

Removing the space separating them, Bdubs pressed a kiss to his lips. "Are you hurt? Bleeding?" He softly asked before taking his arms to check himself.

Doc reassuringly kissed his forehead. "Just a little scratched up."

He helped brush the dirt from his hands and forearms. "Think you can soldier on?" Bdubs reverted to teasing as he finally let go of him in favor of checking up on their cat.

"I'll try my hardest!" Doc laughed, joining him whilst Bdubs fed Tugger a few treats.

After collectively showering their pet in pestering affection, it was back down the path, chasing after the sun ahead.

-

Thankfully, Doc didn't fall a second time and Bdubs never fell once. It seemed once he got one topple to the ground out of the way, Doc felt less stiff on the bike. He still kept behind Bdubs despite the path having room for at least three bikes. It wasn't just because he enjoyed the view, but he was still nervous about crashing into him and harming both his fiance and his beloved cat.

By the time they reached the allusive cliffside, the sun had begun to set. "This really is a beautiful sight," Bdubs whispered, knocking the kickstand out as he fixed his posture.

Climbing off his bike, Doc strode over to stand behind him, wrapping an arm around his waist. He leaned his cheek against his head as his thumb idly rubbed against his shirt. "This was fun," he murmured.

"Well, we're only halfway done! We still have to ride back down the path," Bdubs pointed out.

"One of these days we should hit the city with a tandem bicycle," he half-joked.

Bdubs scoffed. "Gorgeous I love you but it would cost you a pretty penny to get me to ride around the city on one of those."

Laughing, he pressed his lips against his hair. "I love you, y'know that?" He found the words escaping him, though he didn't mind in the slightest.

His fiance looked up at him, his gaze softening and his cheeks pink. "Of course I know that," he whispered before reaching up to kiss him. "And I love you too." Doc kissed him again.

"C'mon, let's sit for a minute and eat," Doc suggested, nodding at the bench nearby.

With their bikes resting beside the bench and Tugger with them, the hybrid had taken the small lunch bag he had with the small first aid kit. They had packed a few snacks to help tie them over until they got home for dinner.

As he passed an apple over to Bdubs, he watched as his fiance excitedly waited for the stars. "What if we went out to dinner instead?" He suggested, gaining his attention.

"Where were you thinking?" Bdubs asked before taking a large bite.

"I know this new seafood place with rooftop seating. It may be in the city but I've heard you can still pick out some stars from there." The way his roommate smiled and eagerly nodded made his heart skip a beat. If Doc didn't have the self-control he managed to retain, he'd kiss Bdubs every time he grinned.

However his sappy thoughts were interrupted when his beloved cat stepped onto his lap, his paw hitting the worst spot possible. Bdubs cackled as Doc winced. "Shit man," he muttered.

"Good boy," his roommate cooed, reaching over to pet their cat once he settled on his leg.

-

Bdubs hadn't noticed it all on the way up, but since night hit, fairy lights along the path lit up, revealing a beautiful scene. "This is so pretty!" He gushed as he slowed down.

"Are we sure this is okay for the environment? What if a bird or something tries to eat a lightbulb?" Doc fretted, pulling ahead.

He pursed his lips. "I... think it's okay. I mean, pigeons are stupid but they don't try to eat lights in the city," he pointed out.

"True." The hybrid nodded, though Bdubs could no longer see his face. That was, until he glanced back over his shoulder, revealing a wide grin. "C'mon slowpoke!" He teased.

Scoffing, he picked up the pace, before pausing his pedaling so he could glide past his partner and down the slight incline. "Now who's the slow one?" He teased right back.

"If it weren't for the fact you had Tugger I'd push you," Doc threatened, but Bdubs didn't believe him.

"Oh, sure you would," he laughed. "Like you wouldn't be all over me if I got a splinter."

Doc huffed. "Well that's just because I love you," he stated in a matter-of-fact tone.

His face grew warm. Despite hearing him say it possibly a thousand times, despite saying it so much himself, he still somehow couldn't get used to hearing it. He muttered a response, but Doc claimed he couldn't hear him.

So he repeated it.

"Simp."

If I had a nickel for every time google docs corrected fiance to finance I'd have like, three nickels.
