My story was cut off by a fit of knocks on my door. Déjà vu much?
I sighed and went to answer it.
Pulling open the door, it revealed a drunk Gerard. He struggled to stand and reeked of the pungent scent of liquor. He had blood-coated knuckles and some dotted on his clothes. He had gashes and cuts covering his face.
I fought the urge to slam the door in his face.
"Wha-" I rudely greeted him, not wanting to show my genuine concern for his injuries. He didn't deserve to know I cared.
"Do you seriously like Mikey?" He asked, trying to hide his sadness. I suppose that's been on his mind. I wasn't expecting the first words he spoke to be that, but that's Gerard for you. Unpredictable and intrusive.
"Huh?"
"I saw you guys together. I wanted to know if-" He stammered, almost humouring me with how he spoke. He sounded so sad and defeated.
"No, I don't like Mikey and the feeling is mutual. He was just there when I needed someone and things got the best of us," I explained, not that he needed to know. He just looked so pitiful and sensitive at this moment. It would've been like abandoning a puppy on the road. He has a certain pull on me I can't describe. It's a weird sense of responsibility and loyalty I feel for him.
"So there's nothing between you guys?"
"Nothing, you can ask him yourself." I pointed behind me.
"He's here?" I heard some anger and unease laced in his voice. It was off-putting, knowing his previous behaviour. He has temper issues and was clearly distraught about Mikey and me. This might just set him off.
"Yeah, he was worried about you, calm down." He pushed passed me, my words seemingly not even registering in his head. He barged into the living room where Mikey sat, unbothered. Gerard looked as though he was ready to fight a bitch, and I did not want that to happen. Especially Mikey, his brother. I swiftly caught up with Gerard, locking my arms under his shoulders to prevent him from doing anything to Mikey.
Mikes was now aware of this and retracted from being near Gerard.
"What the heck, dude?!" Mikey shouted arm up in defence.
"Five seconds to leave or I'll rip your head off," Gerard demanded menacingly. He wouldn't actually hurt his brother... right? I mean... he did just almost attack him... but still. He's not like that.
"Don't hurt [name]." Mikey retorted firmly.
"I won't. Just leave." He spat coldly. Mikey gave me an apologetic look before leaving, mouthing a 'talk to him'. I heard the front door close and I removed myself from restraining Gerard.
"What's your problem!?" I yelled at him. He glanced at me, then to the floor. He looked up, offering a small sorry smirk. Was that look going to work on me? No... is what I wish I could say. It definitely did work.
"I sorta needed your help," He said, scratching the back of his head. Consider my mind boggled. He yelled at Mikey because he needed help. What. the. hell.
"Seriously? Can't you just go to your house? You're clearly drunk. Plus, those injuries don't seem too fun," I remarked somewhat sarcastically.
"That's why I came to you; can't have the fam' getting worried. And I wanted to talk to you about something." He stated in a way that was almost asking for approval. I sighed.
