Unexpected News (revamp)

Arlo's birth (January 2024)

Jesse and I were on the couch watching a film after putting Nova to sleep. I felt myself almost falling asleep so I rested my eyes for a second but a shooting pain ran through my abdomen.

"Ow." I whined as I sat up and clenched my stomach in reflex.

"Billie, you ok?" Jesse asked also sitting up to see if everything was ok with me.

"Yeah," I nodded when the pain went away and I sat back. "Yeah I'm fine." It can't be contractions, hopefully.

Once the film was finished, Jesse woke me up so we could go to bed. He helped me stand up from sitting on the couch but when I stood up, I got the same pain in my stomach again.

"Ow." I whined as I put my hands in my abdomen and held it until the pain when away. Jesse held onto me incase i needed support.

"Billie, you don't think it's contractions do you?" Jesse asked as the pain went away.

"No," I shook my head. "Not yet."

We go to our bedroom to get ready for bed, I quickly check that Nova's still asleep and then I go to the bathroom to do my skincare.

When I was washing my face and Jesse's brushing his teeth, I get another wave of pain in my abdomen. I placed my hands on the counter and bend over a little to ease the pain.

"Ooh, fuck." I moan, Jesse stopped brushing his teeth and rubbed my back as soon as I bend over.

"Billie, I think it's contractions." He said to me sounding a bit worried as the pain passed and I stood up straight.

"No it's fine." I brush off, i know it's probably contractions, I'm 40 weeks and 5 days so I'm overdue.

"No Billie, you're having contractions." He said as he rinsed his mouth and looked at the in the eyes.

"Maybe." I admit, looking down at the floor, he pulled me into a hug and slightly rocked me back and forth.

"It's going to be ok, you will be ok." He whispered in my ear.

"I'm a bit scared Jesse." I admit as I start tearing up. I am so excited for Arlo but i'm terrified. Even after Nova, I'm still scared.

"Me too, but you will be ok, you're going to get through this and we will have our little baby boy." He said pulling out the hug to look into my eyes. He leaned down and kissed me on the lips.

"I love you Jesse." I smile after we pulled out of the kiss, slightly blushing.

"I love you Billie." He smiled back as he kissed me again.

"We're going to have a baby." I giggle to him.

"I know, we're going to be a family of 4." He smiled back.

I finished my skincare routine as Jesse watched and talked about our birth plan before we got into bed. I cuddled up next to him and drifted off to sleep.

7th January

I woke up to another wave of pain, I also had the urge to pee but when I stood up, I felt this gush of water fall down my legs. I only had one of Jesse's oversized t-shirts and some underwear on.

I did not seriously piss myself

did my water break?

"Jesse." I shook him to wake up. "Jesse, wake up."

"Mmm." He moaned as he stirred in his sleep. "What?"

"I think my water broke." I said while tearing up and playing with my fingers. He sat up and turned the lamp on the bedside table on.
