Mei held the sleeping cat in her arms, humming softly to herself as she made her way home. She found the cat in an alleyway with a broken front leg, and knew the guilt would eat her up if she left it so she took it. She set it down on her bed gingerly and bandaged the arm. She took classes when she was younger and had her life under control of her parents. She saw the cat's eyes blink open and meow tiredly. The cat's hair was matted and dirty, was. It had been cleaned by Mei.
It looked panicked but was settled by Mei's loving words and caring strokes. It was lulled to sleep and Mei could feel a heavier weight in her lap as it turned into a human. She yelped at the sudden increase of weight but quickly adjusted. The sleeping figure curled up into her more and she just sighed. She did not think this would happen. She tried to leave them, covering them in the blankets but was dragged into the covers. As they unconsciously cuddled her, she accepted her fate and slept with them.
TIME SKIP CUZ WHY NOT?!
y/n awoke next to Mei, and got up hurriedly, accidentally waking her. "Hmm? What's going on???" Mei said, clearly tired. The sun was setting, it looked like they slept the day away. "Where am I?" y/n spoke, not too scared but still frightened. Mei only gave an effortless comforting smile and explained why the strange person was there. y/n relaxed at her words and started to take her in. they examined her black and green hair, her soft touch when she cuddled y/n, her pink lips, her beautiful eyes. y/n was snapped out of their thoughts noticing that Mei looked at them as if she asked a question.
They replayed the conversation in their head and answered her question, "my name is y/n. Thank you so much for the eyes... I mean the arm!" y/n said the last part hurriedly. Mei only laughed, throwing her head back. Y/n was entranced at the full and happy laughter and ended up laughing themselves. A soft purr erupted, making their throat vibrate as they covered their mouth. Mei softly pulled their hand away from their mouth and held onto them and said confidently, "don't try to hide it. I find it cool!" and she put her head on Y/n's chest to hear it better.
Her words were so comforting and the purrs grew louder, they knew why they were feeling this but still tried to deny it. And failed. The two just stayed in place, Mei's head on y/n's chest and y/n softening more as her warmth enveloped their body. Mei slowly sat up and y/n slightly grimaced at the cold that replaced the warmth. She left and returned, grabbing their hurt arm and rewrapping it in more of a cast then kitty bandages. y/n watched, hypnotized by her kindness and her gentle touches as if you were fragile. This is going to be a long while.
