You were panting, all the air leaving you as Tang performed a ritual to seal away a beast. You had run all the way there, to warn him of a danger. But your words fell on deaf ears as the earth rumbled, the gold markings leaving the air as the beast grew twice in size. This wasn't the beast you both thought it was, and he performed the wrong ritual because of it. Sweat dripped from his face as he was paralyzed, watching the large beast split into three other monsters. They surrounded him as you were desperately grasping your breath.
His eyes shut tight and his arms went up as one of them swung a big fist at him, setting off your fight or smite system. You went in front of him, covering him with your arm as you swung your weapon, taking a finger off. Your clothes were splotched with blood and you commanded him to run or hide. There was some hesitance but he eventually hid away behind some bushes. You swung your weapon, backing up and perching up high and pushed yourself off, hitting one in the eye as it disintegrated to a gold and floated upwards.
You were so enchanted that you didn't see one swing at you, making you roll across the ground. You shakily got up, your face scraped up and your upper-lip swelling. You groaned at the pain and soreness everywhere, but you had two more beasts to deal with. You ran forward, limping slightly as you brought out another identical weapon, hitting a beast in the chest, knocking it to the ground as it followed its former beasts' path. You tugged at your weapons, pulling them from the indent you made on the earth and spun them outwards, they hit its waits and neck. It howled and screeched as it bled out and eventually died.
Your chest heaved, blood splattered on you dripped down. You fell to one of your knees, using one weapon to support you as you stood and looked towards Tang. his face was streaked with tear stains and he held his ears, shutting his eyes tight. You knew how he hated violence. You took off your clothes except some under clothes and covered yourself in a cloak so he wouldn't have to smell or see the blood. The weapons found their home in your sash and you limped towards him, kneeling down to his curled level. "Are you okay, my light?" you whispered softly, your voice mumbled as your lip was swollen.
He sniffled and nodded, hugging you close. "I was so worried for you... I can't believe that spell didn't work! I'm so sorry starlight..." he spoke, clutching onto you. You stood, helping him up with difficulty as you had just been hurt. "It wasn't your fault, you did your best, which is the best anyone can do." you smiled, leaning on him somewhat. "Can we go home though? I need you to help with my wounds." he laughed at that, it was one of his favorite things to 'help' with your wounds (he just read you stories). "Yes, let's go." he chuckled out, putting your arm over his shoulder as he helped get you both to your shared home. Two matching rings clanged together as he held your other hand.
