On my way to my designated lunch spot, I stopped to decide if I wanted to share it again or just find another hallway.

I decided I should get to know Asaiah because she's my neighbor, so I went to my usual spot.

She wasn't there 😐.

I pulled out my phone and began scrolling on Instagram.

Gina's account popped up with a new post. There were three pictures.

The first was her and Mal posing in front of her house. The second was Mal kissing her on the cheek on a picnic blanket near a lake.

The last one was a picture of an unfamiliar tomboy sitting on the same blanket, making an L with her fingers over her forehead. There was a caption over it that showed that the picture was taken from Snapchat originally. It said "single haha".

That's tough.

I kept scrolling, paying barely any attention to each post or reel I went past.

I heard a tray clink beside me. It was my new neighbor. She had changed locations from yesterday and was now on my left, a foot and a half away. She was just sitting down.

"Oh hi." I blushed. I wondered if she saw me looking dumb and staring at my phone.

"Hey. Are you gonna eat those?" She pointed to my tray filled with soggy nuggets.

I scrunched my nose. "No way. I'm a vegetarian."

"Really?" She raised her eyebrows in interest.

"I am when it comes to chicken nuggets from the school cafeteria."

She giggled. "Oh ok."

"I'm more of a person who thinks meat is gross and doesn't eat it often at all than a full-on vegetarian. It's honestly not as good as everyone says. It's a dead animal."

Her eyebrows raised higher. "Okay... You feel strongly about that."

I nodded. "Yeah," I quietly responded with an amused expression.

"Eh. It's okay to me. I'm just starving, so I want to eat off of everyone's tray," she exaggerated.

I smiled and looked over at her to get used to her face.

Usually I don't forget people's faces when I meet them, but I'll forget people's names. I just wanted to know what she looked like because most times I look everywhere but someone's face when they speak to me.
