"Mom."

My mom turned her head towards me, my father who got home recently doing the same.

Ignoring my asshole dad, "Can we talk?"

She nodded slowly before going into my room with me. "What's up, baby?"

"I'm a dick."

"What!? Don't say that! Why do you think so?"

"You know Asaiah across the street?"

"Yeah."

"She got a boyfriend recently. I don't know why, but every time she mentions him or when they're around each other, I get so annoyed. I start being really bitchy and now Asaiah is mad at me and hasn't talked to me in two days."

"Why? Do you not like him?"

"I don't know! He's a perfectly normal guy! They both really like each other, too."

"Do you have a crush on her?"

"What!? No!"

The moment the words left my mouth, I questioned if I really meant them. I hadn't thought of that possibility before.

"Then maybe you just feel like she's pushing you away to get closer to him. It's probably just jealousy over your best friend. Do you feel like you're losing her or he's changing her?"

"I don't know. I definitely feel like I'm losing her, but I don't know if he's changing her. I think he is."

I looked down at my fiddling hands and tried to decipher my thoughts.

"She doesn't seem to want to hang out and talk to me as much anymore."

"Well, you guys hung out all the time. She needs some of that time for her relationship now. I think you both just need to talk out your feelings and get used to her having another person in her life."

I nodded, not really wanting to. "Thanks. That's all."

"You sure?"

"Yeah."

She put a hand on my shoulder as she stood up. "Good luck."

With that, she left me in my room alone with my thoughts. I only felt more confused now.

Do I like her!?
