Eddie notices how close we are to where we stashed our boat, running over to the bushes we used to cover it up.
He pulls the tarp away and with Steve's help, they carry it over to the spot Dustin almost fell in.
"Easy, I...I said easy, man," Steve says, annoyed, as the boat slams into the water.
"Sorry, dude," Eddie replies.
"Here you go," Steve says, holding out a hand for Robin to help her get in the boat.
"Yeah, I'm just gonna do that. Thank you," she says, instead using Steve's and Eddie's heads to help her in the boat. "Hey, we only have one oar."
"No, we don't," I say, proudly waving my oar that I haven't let go of since 'finding' it.
"Your goddamn oar. She's very attached to that. Looks like it will come in handy after all," Eddie adds, looking back at me with a smirk. I throw my middle finger up at him, before getting into the boat myself.
"No, Lyssa. No. You're not going. Not after last night," Eddie says, turning to me. I sit down, making myself comfortable then stare at Eddie. I have a real problem with obedience and he'll realise eventually. "I'm not joking, Lyssa. Get out the boat. You're staying here."
"Eddie, if you're going then I'm going too. If you want me out of this boat, you'll have to drag me. Now stop wasting time and get in."
I can see Eddie hesitate, but after a few seconds he climbs in. He turns back to Nancy, helping her in the boat.
"Wheeler," Eddie says and I glare at the back of his head. Is this his attempt at getting back at me for my stubbornness?
"Thanks," Nancy says, glancing in my direction. I can tell she wants no part in this.
Dustin attempts to step into the boat but is quickly stopped by Eddie.
"Hey, hey, hey, you trying to sink us? This thing holds four people tops, okay?" Eddie says, gently shoving Dustin back.
"It's better this way, okay? You guys stay here with Max. Keep an eye out for trouble," Nancy says.
"You keep an eye out. Its my goddamn theory," Dustin exclaims, annoyed.
"You heard Nance."
"Who put her in charge?"
"I did."
"Compass."
Nancy holds her hand out for the compass and after a bit of deliberation, Dustin reluctantly hands it over.
Eddie takes a seat between me and Robin, his hand on my knee. I move my knee away so his hand slides off, but he pulls it back to him. I look at him and see a worried expression on his face so I put my hand on his and gently squeeze, giving him a small smile.
"Hey, there you go," Steve says, throwing Dustin's backpack at him before pushing the boat away from dry land, jumping in at the last moment.
"You said four!" Dustin exclaims.
"Sorry," Steve whispers, not appearing sorry at all. He's just happy he doesn't have to play babysitter anymore.
"Bedtime at nine, kiddos," Robin shouts back at the three. Way to rub it in Robin. "Miss you already!"
I look at Eddie and see him already looking at me, his thumb rubbing my knee.
"Are you okay?" he whispers. I decide to lie and nod, hiding how anxious I actually feel.
We row in silence, Robin using the oar from the boat, Eddie using the one I 'acquired'.
I look over at Nancy and Steve. The latter staring at Nancy until he notices me looking. He quickly turns his head, looking out over the water, pretending nothing happened. Nancy, on the other hand, has her eyes focused on the compass, oblivious.
