The ride in the motor home is sombre. Nobody says a thing. Only the sound of the motor running can be heard over the deafening silence.

I grip my spear in my hand and wipe the loose strands of hair from my head. The rest of my hair held tight with a band, keeping it out of my face. I look to Eddie, bandanna on his head, tactical vest on and holding his spear against his chest, blankly staring ahead.

I look to Dustin, sat next to Eddie. Little bandanna wrapped around his head. Geared up and staring out the window, scared of what we're about to face.

This is a stupid plan.

But what other choice do we have?

Steve stops the vehicle without saying a word. We look to Lucas, Max and Erica as they stand, getting ready to leave. I look to Max, giving her a small smile and silently wishing her good luck.

They open the door and leave, looking up at the Creel House. Max shuts the door behind her and we set off again.

Final destination: the Upside Down.

"Okay. I wanna run through it one more time," Nancy says, after we come to a stop not far from Eddie's trailer. "Phase one."

"We meet Erica at the playground. She'll signal Max and Lucas when we're ready," Robin answers.

"Phase two," Nancy says.

"Max baits Vecna. He'll go after her, which'll put him in his trance," Steve replies.

"Phase three," Nancy says.

"Me, Eddie and Melissa draw the bats away," Dustin answers, earning a pat on the shoulder from Eddie.

"Four."

"We head into Vecna's newly bat-free lair, and... flambé."

"Nobody moves on to the next phase until we've all copied. Nobody deviates from the plan, no matter what. Got it?"

"Got it."

We grab our things and leave the motor home, not giving ourselves time to second guess the plan. Steve picks up his pace as we enter the trailer park, and we follow closely behind.

My heart is pounding in my chest. I can't shake this nagging feeling that something bad is going to happen.

I suddenly feel eyes on me and I stop dead in my tracks. Scanning my surroundings, I don't see anything or anyone that would explain the feeling that I'm being watched.

"Come on, Lyssa. We need to go," Eddie whispers, appearing behind me and pulling me by the hand towards his trailer.

"Be careful," Dustin says to Steve as I enter the trailer with Eddie.

"Thanks, buddy," Steve says, patting Dustin on the arm. "Here goes nothing."

He grabs the rope, climbing up and into the Upside Down. He falls with a flip, landing on his feet. He looks back up at us before disappearing from view.

"What does he want us to do, applaud?" Robin says and I drop my hands from their pre-clap position. I don't care what she says. That looked impressive.
