Covestry couldn't escape obligation. She had obligations that dragged her down until she felt chained to her bed. Obligations that knocked on her door and forced her out in sickness and health.
Obligation was her middle name. Not really. No, her middle name was Bishakha, 'the brightest star in the sky'. It obligated her to success. Her parents banked on their children being successful. All ten of them, from the six boys to the four girls. Nobody was allowed to be unsuccessful in that household.
Covestry, as the oldest, was most burdened by this. A burden that followed her into adulthood. Even if she started streaming to detox from the stress of the day, when success started to creep up on her... She lost herself in that sense of obligation to her viewers, to her parents, to herself.
The sense of obligation to be the very best.
And she was.
It was almost too easy to overtake whatever creep was there first. Especially since she started when the platform was on the rise. The perfect time for anybody with a good worth ethic to start.
With obligation came success, and with success came power. In turn, with that power, came more obligation. Obligation to teach those that came to you. To nurture and help grow.
Covestry figured this was part of the reason why she was so beloved, and why her place as number one was so firmly cemented. Sometimes she wondered if she'd done that on purpose, subconsciously. Used obligation as an excuse to cement herself in her place.
... You didn't come with all those pressures. You never asked too much of her, and always took her up on offers. Even when they didn't benefit you at all. Even if she was demanding, you delivered. Beautifully, at that.
That project she'd invited you to, god what a success it was going to be. Everything was coming together wonderfully. You'd even bothered to make sure everything you'd been put in charge of was handled before your mental breakdown.
What a reliable person. She'd never been one to rely on others, but Covestry couldn't help but rely on you a bit. You never guilt tripped her about it either, or used it against her.
You treated her as human.
[ Kurobo : Heart and I go to the same school. ]
[ Covestry : Did you find out who she is? ]
[ Kurobo : Not really. Her first name is (Y/n). ]
[ Covestry : Give me the school name. I'll handle the rest. ]
What a shame she couldn't do the same for you.
