"Fuck off huh?" A voice above you snickered and put rough hands onto your arms. "Damn, when did you start using such callous language? Pick it up from that Warni asshole?"

As you were forced away, your gaze locked onto the man before you. Joshua. You'd never forget those eyes. The way they appeared crimson in bright lights and his wispy hair that had once had you seeing stars. "Don't talk about Amon." You whacked his hand away, and Joshua lifted them defensively.

"Demands from someone who wants nothing to do with me?"

"Who's the one who initiated conversation again?"

"Who's the one who ran into me?"

"God you're insufferable!"

"And you're pathetic." He sneered. "Always have been. You couldn't even say no flat out. You just have to hide behind those famous friends of yours, huh?" Joshua cocked his head. And despite it all, despite it all, you couldn't look away. You couldn't force your legs to move, your lungs to contract and expand.

"And you're a bastard." You couldn't even control the words coming out of your mouth. You didn't care that everybody was staring now. Let them watch. They probably wanted this. This drama to emerge and bring attention to their event. "I'm not hiding behind them. Why the fuck would I ever use my friends like that?"

"Friends." He scoffed, throwing his head to the side but keeping his gaze on you. It was as though he knew he had you paralyzed with that sickening gaze. "Like you aren't leading them on. Like you don't lead everybody on."

Leading them on.

How could you be leading people on that you were genuinely attracted too?

You were just running. Again. Running from what you knew you felt, and what you knew they did. Running from making a choice, taking a stance.

Even when you'd convinced yourself you were done with that. Even knowing you had people backing you. People that would believe and do anything for you.

You were a coward.

That simple thought caused something to snap. You'd risen your fist before you could further think, you'd tackled Joshua to the ground and started screaming. It all felt red and hot, and so so far away. Like you weren't the one gripping his collar so hard there'd be holes, you weren't the one screaming at him for ruining your life, you weren't you weren't you weren't.

You were. You gasped and choked on air when arms wrapped around you. Everything was blurry, wet hot tears gushing down your cheeks. Joshua sat up and held his nose, bloodied and bruised. Broken, definitely.

"It's okay, calm down, it's okay."

Those words.

That voice.

You looked up, and a sense of dread filled you to your very core.

Out of everyone to have pulled you off of Joshua, the last one you wanted it to be was Damshi.
