C L A R I S T O
Ace hadn't waited a moment to go looking for you. He'd had a shockingly fast reaction time, immediately whipping around and going for the door. Ace could hear the yelling and commotion, but it didn't deter him for even a second.
You were way too important for such a thing to deter him for even a second. He was used to people rooting on his downfall, anyways.
It happened to be how he ran into you first. Quite literally. See, Ace had to take the journey into town slower than you. He didn't know if you'd have slowed or stopped, or even hidden.
Despite that, it ended here.
"ACE!"
He'd recognize your voice anywhere, but suddenly having your form thrown into his was unexpected. Ace hadn't been able to keep his footing, and had hit his head on the concrete.
"(Y/n)?" He asked in a daze.
"Oh my god!" You gasped, staring down at him with wide eyed. "Sorry! Fuck! Sorry!" You scrambled off of him and Ace sat up. Quietly, you examined his head for any blood. Lady luck was on Ace's side today, as there didn't seem to be any major damage or bleeding.
"What happened? Where did you go?" He asked with a deep frown. "Are you okay?"
"Stop being a worrywart."
"How can I not be?" He hissed. "You went running off!"
"You were causing a scene!"
"In a house?!"
"You're insufferable! And you suck at games!"
"What?!"
Maybe Ace did have brain damage after that. Just what were you going on about, and you looked far more heated up than usual. He could almost see the smoke coming out of your ears.
He reached a hand out and pressed your forehead to his. "So?" Ace mumbled.
"So?" You repeated, staring him dead on.
"You came back for a reason."
"Yeah." You breathed.
"So?" He sighed.
"So..."

"So what's the issue here?"
You tensed as you felt Ace's arm sling over your shoulder. Maybe you should've seen this coming. Better than anybody, you knew how your husband got. "No issue, no issue, right?" You turned your attention to the man ahead of you, narrowing your eyes.
He stared back at you, and when he brought his gaze up, he visibly flinched. "No issue." The man agreed, storming off, flicking his hands free of the red wine that soaked his front.
"What happened?" Ace asked, leaning in close. You sighed deeply.
"Someone fucked around and found out."
"Did they now?" He took his gaze to the crowd. "And on such a good night..." Ace mumbled.
"Do you recognize the guy?"
"Nah."
"Let's keep it that way." You muttered. "I don't want anymore lawyers. I don't even want to be here anymore."
"I offered not to come." Ace pointed out.
You scowled and shook your head. "Not come... And miss out on an opportunity like this? To get out of the house?"
"You never want to leave the house anyways." He snickered. "Don't act like you aren't pampered."
"A pampered cage is still a cage."
"Cage, cage, cage. God, when will you actually refer to it as our house? What have I done so wrong?" He groaned.
"You threw both of our dreams away."
Ace paused. "I made the smart decision. For us. You used to understand that."
He wondered sometimes, when it had gone wrong.
That day, the day when everything went down, had been the first day you'd set your eyes on him. That day had been the day you started dating. But it got hard, long distance was hard. It was even worse when you got to see each other in person, and had to be separated all too soon.
But you weren't willing to uproot your life, and you'd begun to doubt...
He'd made the right decision. Ace was still sure. You used to agree. You did.
Ace rested his lips on your head. "Let's go back home."
After all this time, he had you in his grasp. Ace wasn't willing to loosen it at all. He was too afraid you'd fly away.
