When Kara entered the living room, her gaze immediately met Lena's. She tried to understand how Lena was feeling right now and whether she had thought everything through. But she didn't dare cross the line. She had decided to give Lena all the time in the world and the space she needed.

"Hey," Kara said hesitantly.

"Hey," Lena whispered back. She saw Kara's hesitant look and knew what she was going to do. She wanted to give her time to think and wouldn't push her. That was one of the qualities Lena liked so much about Kara. The blonde respected the feelings of others, she respected Lena's feelings.

Kara gave Lena a shy smile and turned towards the room. But before she could move on, Lena jumped up from the sofa. "We need to talk."

Kara looked at her in surprise, "Now?"

"Yes, please. Sit here with me." Lena sat back down and tapped next to her. Kara swallowed once, then obeyed. In a few minutes, she would find out what Lena had decided.

As they both sat next to each other, they were silent for a moment, just looking at each other. Lena sat closer to Kara and stroked her chin, Kara closing her eyes at the touch.

"Is everything okay, darling? It looks like you got hit good here. Did your mission go well?" asked Lena with concern.

Kara immediately opened her eyes and her heart warmed when she heard Darling.

"Yeah, it's all good. One of the attackers noticed I was distracted for a second and didn't hesitate to take a swing at me, but they look worse than me."

"Were you distracted because of me?" asked Lena hesitantly.

Kara lowered her gaze and Lena knew immediately that her guess was correct.

"I'm sorry, that wasn't my intention. I just didn't expect you were going to tell me and it took me a while to process that information," Lena confessed.

Kara looked up again and nodded understandingly.

Lena moved even closer to Kara and hugged her. The Kryptonian was confused, but relieved at the same time and put her arms carefully around Lena's hips. As Lena hugged her even tighter and buried her face in Kara's neck, Kara pulled her onto her lap so they could sit more comfortably and cuddle.

Kara gently placed her hand on Lena's back and made circular motions to soothe Lena.

"What's wrong, Lee?" she asked, full of worry.

She felt Lena's hand touch the back of her neck and play with her baby hair. It felt good and Kara noticed her body relax. She hadn't realized she was tense until now.

"I was worried about you, I always worry when you're out saving the world or the city," she whispered.

"Well, I'm here now. Safe and sound.", Kara cheered her up.

But Lena didn't seem to like the answer, because she moved away from Kara's neck to look skeptically into her eyes and then point at her jaw.

"Okay, almost intact. That's just a little scratch baby," Kara laughed, but then realized she had just called Lena baby. Being cuddled up here with her and talking felt so normal and right that she almost forgot what had happened 30 minutes ago.

Instead of a smile, concern spread across Kara's face again, which did not go unnoticed by Lena. She loved Kara's laugh and she liked it when she was called baby by her, it felt so natural. They looked at each other again.

"You said we need to talk?", Kara finally mustered up the courage to ask.

"Yeah..."

Kara waited, she wouldn't push Lena now.
