Weeks had passed since we had lost Beth and Tyreese. Two good, kind souls taken from such a cruel, harsh world. As a group, we had made the decision to continue north to DC. We had hoped that the city would prove to be fruitful. We still had about sixty miles of open road to trek before we reached the city.
Normally sixty miles wouldn't seem like much. It was maybe an hour drive, but not for us. Without vehicles or gasoline, we were forced to walk from Richmond to DC. Our stomachs were empty, our water bottles drained of the liquid we needed to survive, all of us were exhausted. We continued to walk on.
If someone were to see our group now, they wouldn't believe all of the things we had done because we all simply looked like the walkers that trailed behind us. A small horde has formed, following along behind us. The sounds of their moans and groans had become so normal that it was like background music in a movie; something you wouldn't notice.
Rick had decided it was best to wait until we had the upper hand to fight against the walkers since we were all so low on energy. That moment came when we had approached a bridge. While the others fought, Carl and I stood with Olivia and Alex on the other side. Olivia had finally given Carl his little sister. After we lost Beth, Olivia stayed close to the baby's side. This made us closer, not only as friends, but as a group. The four of us stayed by each other's sides throughout every moment of our travels. If we had to be split up, we were usually split off into pairs.
It stayed that way as we reached a spot in the road that had water bottles and milk jugs filled with water. I exchanged glanced with my friends, not trusting the water before us. Alex picked up a piece of paper that had been placed with the jugs. From a friend.
I felt Carl grab my hand as we all silently looked over the water. At this point, it was tempting. To have a cool drink of pure water grace my tongue would be such a relieving feeling right now.
As my dad reappeared from the woods, Rick showed him the note that had been left with the water jugs. He immediately let the paper slip from his hand and pulled his crossbow off his shoulder in case of an attack.
"What else are we gonna do?" Tara asked, holding her gun loosely.
"Not this. We don't know who left it." Rick said, glancing around. My eyes flickered between the trees, looking for any type of movement, but all I could see was the slight breeze moving the leaves.
"If that's a trap, we already happen to be in it. But I, for one, would like to think it is indeed from a friend." Eugene stated, not taking his eyes off the water.
"What if it isn't? They put something in it?" Carol questioned him.
"If it is from a so called friend then they're watching us." I muttered, letting go off Carl's hand to grab my gun. "And I don't know about you, but I don't like being watched."
Eugene didn't listen to what we said as he grabbed a bottle of the water and opened it.
"What are you doing, dude?" Rosita exclaimed.
