Waking up to the sight of a blood filled bucket in front of me is not what I ever thought I'd see. I was leaning over the side of a bunk and the bucket was placed directly beneath my face on the ground.

Before I could try to figure out where I was, a wave of coughs racked my body. Once I started I couldn't stop, and soon enough the bucket found good use because I ended up coughing up a warm substance.

Once I was done, I used the bottom of my shirt to wipe my face only to see blood staining it when I pulled it away. That's when I realized that I was in cell block a and I had the illness.

I began having another coughing fit. I had began choking a little and was struggling to get the blood up. Someone placed a hand on my back and rubbed up and down, giving a pat or two which helped me a lot.

Once the fit was over, I looked over to see Hershel sitting next to me with a piece of cloth covering his face. All of the coughing had caused my head to pound and my throat to become sore, but I asked him what he was doing in here.

"Well, I didn't expect to hear a peep out of you for a while. I thought you had it easy and would sleep this off." He answered. I could see the comforting smile in his eyes. "You've been asleep since you got here."

"How did I get here? The last thing I remember is trying to get here, but I passed out." My voice came out strained because of all the coughing I had just done.

Hershel nodded. "Glenn found you on his way here, as well. He was struggling to move you because of how weak the illness had made him. By the time he was able to get help, you started choking on your own blood. They were able to get you here so I could save you. And you've been asleep ever since. Of course, we put you on your side and placed the bucket here. Instead of drooling in your sleep, blood came out."

"Who helped Glenn?" I asked, "How long have I been asleep?"

Another wave of coughs sprang from my body. Hershel didn't answer me until I was finished. Once I was done, I wiped my face and looked at Hershel, signaling he could talk.

"Alex did. He immediately picked you up and brought you here. Glenn couldn't even keep up with him." The old man answered, "And as for sleeping, I'd say a couple days. We've had to keep a close eye on you because of it. You're the only one who has been sleeping through this illness. I'd say you're pretty lucky."

I nodded before another wave of coughs hit me. "I'm kinda wishing I was still asleep." I said after the coughs were gone. "I guess this bucket will be my new best friend."

"Drink this. It will help ease the coughing and the fever." Hershel instructed, handing me a cup of weird looking tea. Knowing that he wouldn't intentionally harm me, I placed the cup to my lips and drank the liquid.

It immediately eased my aching throat. I sipped on the cup while Hershel checked me over. When I finished, I placed it down beside the bunk. "You seem to be doing better than most of the others. The only one who I can think of that is doing better than you is Lizzie."
