The next morning I sat next to Carl in the rv, bouncing my leg up and down in excitement. I had decided to look on the brighter side of this. The last time we pulled up to a community, their walls had been broken through. I had hope that this one wouldn't be and that this was the beginning to an end.

Finally, he grew fed up with my hyperactivity and placed a hand on my thigh causing warmth to rise in my cheeks. My blue eyes quickly glanced over to Carl, who smiled down at me. "It's going to be okay. Just chill."

I gave him a quick nod and bit my lip. He looked away from me again, but left his hand laying on my thigh. I felt frozen under his touch which now left butterflies thrashing in my stomach. In the entire time that I had been in a relationship with Carl, never once have we had intimate touches other than kissing and hand holding. I dared to say that I liked the feeling.

I drummed my fingers along the table causing Alex to roll his eyes in aggravation. Once the brakes squealed and the rv was placed in park, Alex immediately stood from his seat. "Thank God. She was about to drive me insane."

My jaw dropped at his words and I leaned over to punch his arm. Carl and Olivia rolled their eyes at us before the girl pushed her boyfriend out of the rv.

"Don't get too excited. We aren't there yet." Abraham grumbled, causing me to look at him furrowed eyebrows. "The damn thing is breaking down on us."

Carl slid his hand from my thigh into my own and held it as he led me out of the rv. We walked over to Rick and Michonne, who held Judith. "What's wrong?"

Before we could answer, Abraham's aggravated curses filled the air as he slammed the hood shut. "Can't win. Might as well paint it red, put a ladder on it."

"All we need is another battery." Glenn told the man. Carl turned to take Judith from Rick and cuddled the girl close to his chest next to me.

"Where in the hell are we gonna find another battery?" The red head grumbled.

"Right over here." We watched as Glenn led the man to the side of the rv and pulled open a compartment that held another battery.

"How'd you know those were there?" Abraham asked causing me to giggle a little before focusing on the siblings next to me. I smile as Carl rocked the girl up and down and turned her around.

"The fight's over. You've got to let it go. I know it's hard. After it's kept you... Warm and fed and... Alive. But the fight... It turns on you. You've got to let it go." I overheard Michonne tell Rick. Carl seemed to hear them as well as he came closer to me with his sister. His eyes watched the two adults behind me.

"That's what Bob was trying to tell me back at the church. What to risk. When it's safe. When to let someone in." Rick sighed. "The rules keep changing."

"They did for me." Michonne told him. Just looking at the two, my heart swelled. The way they looked at each other, the way they leaned on each other for support. It was clear they had feelings for one another.
