After two weeks in hospital, finding out I had experienced a severe chest attack was the scariest thing. Not a heart attack but a chest attack, so the pain was being spread and causing my chest to get tighter and tighter. When I was running my heart was struggling to keep up with the pace I was going, this caused it to burst in pain. But because I kept going, when I should have stopped I had a severe attack.
Of course now, it is just about better. When I first went into the hospital I was on oxygen for a few days, to make the my lungs expand from the tightening and my breathing go back to normal.
To this present day I am very happy. I have spent the last few days resting and reading but I'm back on the farm. With the animals, dogs and fresh air I think it's helping me recover.
Nurse Milla comes and visits me once every two days to check on me and so far all good.My scull had minor bruising which was causing the head aches and the pain. Doctor Libby told me that it will take about a week to go back to normal so I am being patient.
Today, I am going to set myself a goal. It is the 20th of August and I am going to catch the bus into the city and have an adventure.
"Mum!" I call, looking for her as I walk into the house.
"I'm in the laundry Annica." She calls back
I tell her about my plan and she thinks it's fabulous idea. "It will be good for you to get out, you have missed quite a lot of school. Make sure you are careful though, you are still not 100% better!"
I run to the cubby, grab my phone and send a quick group message to Lenny and Milly.Catching the bus into the city for an adventure at 11:00am, anyone interested in coming? Love A xx
10 minutes later I get a reply from Milly,
Sure! I'll meet you at the bus stop soon. M xx
A minute later, I get another buzz coming from my phone.
Awesome idea pal! See you soon :)
I pack my backpack with some money, yummy food Mum prepared, my phone, a first aid kit, my much loved camera and a bottle of water. I say goodbye to Dad and Mum and then set out on my adventure.
Half a bottle of water later, a few photos and a sneaky snack; Lenny, Milly and I are on our way to the city."So, how are you feeling patient?" Milly asks me, pretending to be the nurse.
"Pretty good, still have a little bit of a pain in my head but apart from that I am wonderful!"
I rest my head on the back of the seat and close my eyes. A minute later I am startled awake by Lenny's excited voice.
"We are here! Time to get off!"
We pay for the tickets, say thanks to the bus driver and set off. We come to a nice footpath and go for a walk until we come to a big blue sign with bikes behind it. BIKESHARE it says in big bold letters. You pay $2 for an hour or $7 for an hour and a half to hire them.
"I think we should just use them for an hour and then do something else in the arvo." Lenny suggests
"Okay, I'm fine with that." Milly says, and I agree
So we pay $6 between us and then set off with our blue bikes. It is really fun! We swerve around trees, dodge the couples, kids and families walking along and end up playing bike tiggy!
Ahead I spot what looks like a market, we go and investigate."It's a food festival!" Lenny says in delight
"Awesome!" I reply
"Yum, we can have lunch there." Milly calls out
So Milly, Lenny and I end up sitting on a patch of grass. Looking out at the river, with the boats sailing past. I have a toasted wrap with spinach and melting cheese, it's delicious!
