ANNICA'S POV
I feel about ten thousand emotions hit me all at once. My mum pulls me into a comforting hug and I can feel her shoulders shaking against me. I burst into tears and cry for a long time, saturating her t shirt. Before I know it my three friends have come together to make a group hug. The dogs run over and start to whine, I feel Benny's wet tongue against my knee and I look up into his sad, confused eyes. We are huddled together and in my eyes I see myself and four other black and white figures with their arms around each other.MAY'S POV (ANNICA'S MUM)
I think I should tell them and explain about what has happened, but I don't feel that now is the time. As soon as I saw Annica and her friends I sensed something was wrong. I can see it now but I'm scared to ask, I am in fear for what their answer will be. All of their eyes are fuzzy and glazed. Suddenly courage hits me and I know that being the only adult here I have to take charge. I blurt out my worries and look into my daughters confused, blurry eyes.MILLY'S POV
"What has happened to y-y-y-your eyes!?" May asks Annica with a worried expression, she then looks around to us expecting an answer. I see May's anxious face and I feel pity for the woman, she knows something is wrong and she deserves to know, we need to tell her. So that's what I do and receive a shocked answer and an emergency phone call.Half an hour later we are driving in May's black car along the highway to the hospital. When Annica's mum heard about our eyes she rang the hospital and told them to expect four hungry, thirsty, no colour seeing teenagers. I must admit we sound like a strange group! As the city gets closer I wonder what will happen. May starts to explain to us about what happened in her view and I listen in eagerly, wanting to know about my parents. I find out that on the night everything went wrong, May and her husband woke up to a terrifying storm just like we had.
"We heard a massive crash against the house and knew it must of been the huge gum tree. Part of the roof of our bedroom caved in and the plaster started to fall off the roof. We both ran outside and were calling out to Annica when we heard glass smashing. I was scared it was coming from the treehouse, so I continuously yelled out to you but I heard no answer. Then suddenly I tripped and fell, grabbing onto Ben (Annica's dad) as I went. I hit the ground quite hard and the next thing I knew I woke up lying on the grass watching Ben run off into the distance. He was searching for you all, running over the property. After that, suddenly a group of police officers appeared and we were taken away, they would not let us go, I yelled and protested but nothing could force me out of their strong arms. Ben tried and tried but we couldn't get away from them, I tried to tell them about you all but they wouldn't listen and my voice was cut away by the storm. Ben found out after lots of research that about nine hundred thousand people were taken away and locked up. We were put in cells and were only given food three times a day, no one spoke or told us anything. Everyone was separated and we couldn't speak to anyone. After two weeks of hardly any sleep, we were let outside to socialise and get some sun. It was such a relief to us but when we found out that none of you were in the prison I got scared and freaked out. Ben and Scott (Lenny's dad) went straight to the guards at the gate and demanded to know what had happened but that led to more trouble, they have been locked up again for three days. This all went on yesterday, today we were let out from prison with no explanation of why we were in there. The second they opened the gates to let us out I sprinted to my car and zoomed down this highway. In my mind I was set to go to the house but when I saw four figures in the distance and two dogs I screeched to a stop and found you."
May burst into tears at the end and I watched with loving eyes as Annica went over and embraced her with a tight hug.
