We had an amazing day in the city. I loved every moment of it. After lunch we caught the tram into town and went ice skating. Milly loved it and squealed every time her bottom hit the cold freezing ice. I discovered that Lenny is a secret champion at ice skating! He was incredible, he was so agile yet majestic and looked beautiful as he skated in and out swerving through the couples holding hands and kids gripping onto the sides.
"Come and we shall all skate together!" Milly called out to us.
The three of us linked hands and with the speed slowly increasing we flew around the ice rink, slipping and sliding but having fun.
"Time sure does fly when you are having fun." Lenny exclaims as we walk along the foot path towards the bus stop half and hour later.
"I agree." Milly says
When the bus pulls in we hop on one by one and squeeze into one seat together. After five minutes Lenny and Milly with their heads leaning on each other's shoulders are asleep.
.................
"Your stop is coming up miss." the bus driver calls.
I look across to my friends and gently shake them awake.
"Time to get off, we are here."
Once we are off the bus we all say goodbye and part ways.
"See you at school tomorrow!" I yell after them
"See you then!" They both reply in unison.
Glancing down at my shoes I kept walking down our long gravel drive. Beep beep, beep beep my watch went off: 5:00pm. Time to feed the dogs.
I came to the door and pushed it open to see Mum and Dad talking at the wooden table."Annica!" Mum said
"How was your adventure!?" Dad exclaimed
"Really good thanks, I will tell you about it soon. I am just going to feed the dogs."
I went outside and changed shoes from my runners to gumboots. I ran and jumped up onto the pile of hay and whistled loudly for the dogs. Simba came first, then Misty bounded up. I whistled once more and a sopping wet Benny ran up the sheep paddock. "BENNY!!" I yelled. "Have you been in the dam, cheeky boy!" He ran up to me and I jumped off the hay.
Shaking the food bag, all three dogs wagged their tails so much that I literally thought they'd fall off.
Firstly I made them all sit and then I fed them. That night, I fell asleep straight away. After a long but exciting day I was exhausted. School tomorrow, my first day in ages!
..............
I wake up, the dogs barking. I think they are rounding up the sheep, I can hear lots of baaaaing which makes me smile. The dogs do such a great job, after lots of training. When they were puppy's they got a bit confused but after a couple of days their farm genes kicked in!
I get some clothes on and collect the chicken eggs, they are very happy this morning. Squawking and clucking. I piled the eggs into the cleaning crates and then headed off to the tractor to milk the goats.
As soon as I jumped off the tractor at the fence I sensed something was wrong. The loud bleating of the goats wasn't normal. I ran over, as fast as my legs would carry me and saw...Hi guys! I know I left you wondering what is going to happen next but isn't that kind of the idea in story writing!? I'll post more tomorrow. Arrivederci!
