I sat up straight as our business management teacher lectured on about our getting jobs in the future. I have always been interested in business and money, I'm not quite sure why I just love learning about it. I often help Dad sort out our finances and income for the farm, it's lots of fun!
Turning around, I see about eleven people in the back row yawning and some even with their heads on their desks. If they don't like business management why did they choose to do it?Period 5 and 6 I have sport and we play soccer. Firstly we run around, practising passes and technique. Then we get put into teams, I'm with Milly and some other kids in our class.
We get together as a group and put our heads together."Okay guys. We have to stick to our players and play like our life depends on it! Don't worry if we loose but have fun." One of the boys named Tom tells us. I assume he is the captain.
......................
The piercing whistle blows loudly as we cheer and jump up into the air. Our team won, three - two.
It was a close game and we all had heaps of fun."You were really good Annica! Do you play soccer?" I turn around and see Tom.
"Thanks! No I don't play, but I'd love to. It's so much fun." I say.
"You should join our mixed team, we are looking for a couple of girls." Tom explains.
"That would be awesome!! I might not be able to as I live on a farm and I am generally pretty busy. I'll ask and see what Mum and Dad say." I reply, thanking him.
Tom runs off, telling me that he would love it if I joined.
Period six ends and I undo my locker and grab my bag. Yelling goodbye to Milly I run to the bus and jump on, squeezing in with my big bag beside Lenny.
The bus pulls up at my drive way and I say goodbye to Lenny.
"See you on Monday!"
"Bye!" He calls back.
I run down the long, gravel driveway and say hello to Benny who bounds up and greets me.
An hour later, chopping up carrots from the garden I talk to Mum and Dad about the soccer game that we played in sport. I ask them about the team and they are a bit hesitant, thinking of the travelling. I tell them that I would catch the bus to wherever the games were.
After a lot of thinking and talking through. I persuade them and they agree!!
I am so excited, I can't wait till Monday to tell Tom.For dinner we have roast potatoes and vegetables. I know it doesn't sound very good but Mum makes the BEST roast potatoes and veggies ever!
"Annica, it's your birthday in just over a week!" Dad reminds me.
"Yes! I know, i have been counting."
"Do you want to have a party?" Mum asks.
"I don't think so, maybe if I just invite a couple of friends over and we sleep out in tents. I think they'd like that."
"Okay, that sounds great!" Mum says.
14 I'll be turning. FOURTEEN full years of my life gone, I guess there will be plenty more to come!
