The huge gum was falling. It's massive branches were crashing against the house and I could hear my parents screaming and calling out my name. There was glass smashing all around me and before anyone could hear my call for help, rain began to pour down blocking out the sound of my voice.
I look up, only to see the most scariest thing I have seen in my life.
Pure black clouds closing in on me.

"MUM, DAD!!!" I scream, crying out in terror.

But no reply, just the roar of the wind and growl of the thunder. I start running, branches and bits of bark falling all around me. I start to sprint, running into the house; calling out repetitively for Mum and Dad. Then I fall, my whole body hitting the hard floor with a loud crash. My body goes numb and everything turns black.

.............................

My head is screaming in agony. I pull myself up off the hard cold floor and stand up, my weak legs holding me. I look around and my eyes are pulled towards the bright light reflecting through the kitchen (well what used to be the kitchen) window. I slowly walk towards it, not 100% sure of what to expect. Looking out the white boarded window I gasped in shock. It was nothing like I expected. Outside there was... I don't know how to explain it. There was nothing, it was AWFUL. The cool air flowing through the window was crisp. But something wasn't right, and I didn't know what.

There was no sound. No animals. No people.

"Mum, Dad!!?" I yell, my voice interrupting the deathly silence.

Running as fast as my weak legs would carry me I stumbled out the door and into the goat paddock. "Totti!?" I call, crying in devastation. But once again, my voice was the only sound that was heard in the 110 acres of land.

Nothing.

No one.

What would I do?

I collapse onto the fresh hay that I laid out yesterday. Only to realise it is saturated from the rain last night. My thin pyjamas become sopping wet but I don't care. I stay there, my eyes getting heavy and finally I fall asleep.

Roughly an hour later I wake up with whining noise in my ear. My head jolts up and I burst into tears at the sight of Benny. "BENNY!" I cry "Where is everyone and all the animals?"
He just whines and sinks his soft head into my lap. We sit there for a while, me stroking his head and him licking my hand. Both of us comforting each other.
After half an hour I get up and whistle to Benny to follow. I walk over to my cubby, well what's left of it. About ten branches have fallen and are squashing the roof, the window glass has smashed completely and the door that Dad and I made together has swung off in the strong wind.
Barking, Benny warns me to be careful, well so I think. He barks again, twice. But this time it sounds like an exited bark. "What is it Benny boy?" I ask, wondering what he was on about.
I carefully climb the ladder leading up to the tree. Calling out I don't expect anything but I suddenly stop as I hear a soft voice sobbing.

"Hello!?" I call again, but there's no reply.

I pull myself up to the gap where the door was and nearly loose my step at what I see.

"Milly, Abby, Lenny!!" I say, tears start streaming down my face in happiness. Maybe things aren't as bad as they seem.
