Ally wakes up as she hears Sarah asking Jack if he slept on the fire escape all night, then telling him to go to the roof.
Sarah goes to make her way to the kitchen to get some food for Jack when she notices an extra person in Davey's bed.
"Oh, hi Ally!" she says in surprise.
"Mornin' Sarah." Ally replies, brushing her hair out of her face.
"Ally, I actually have something for you." Sarah says as she goes to get something out of the chest at the foot of her bed.
"Now, I know you can't wear it on the streets, but I hope that maybe you could wear it around the lodging house or around here. That way you can dress how you want to dress, while still feeling like a newsie."
Sarah hands Ally a wrapped up package, Ally opens it, and to her surprise, its a dress made out of newsies clothing material in a common newsie clothing style. Its basically her day-to-day outfit but in the form of a dress. Ally is rendered speechless.
She jumps to Sarah and gives her a tight hug. Sarah, in shock from the hug, awkwardly hugs her back.
"Thank you so much! I absolutely adore it! Oh, I'mma wear it all the time. Thank you so much Sarah!"
"I'm glad you like it. I made it in my spare time at work." Sarah responds with a smile.
Ally hugs the dress to her, smiling with glee.
"If you'll excuse me, I have to get some breakfast together for Jack." Sarah says, then exits the room.
"Davey, Davey!" she taps Davey on the shoulder, waking him up.
"I'm awake, I'm awake!" he says, "What is it?"
"Close your eyes, I'mma get changed." she tells him.
Davey obliges and closes his eyes.
"No peekin'" Ally says with a squeal.
Ally changes into her dress, brushes her hair out with Sarah's hair brush, and leaves her hair down and adds her hat on top of her mid-length hair.
"Ok, open!" she says to Davey.
She stands in front of him smiling as he opens his eyes. His eyes light up with glee as she spins to show him her new dress.
"You look absolutely beautiful!" Davey exclaims, smiling wide.
"Oh, Davey! I forgot to tell you, I'm performing tonight, at Irving Hall with Medda. I'm inviting all the newsies and Jack is making it like a pre-rally. To get the newsies excited. It, well, it would mean... a lot to me if you went." she tells him.
"I wanna go!" Les bolts up from his bed in excitement.
"Les! I didn't realize you were up!" Ally exclaims, happy to see the younger boy.
"Can we go, David? Can we? Can we?" Les asks/begs his brother.
"I don't see why not." David responds.
Both Ally and Les throw their arms around David in a three person group hug.
"Ally!" they all hear from the window. They turn to see Jack.
"We gotta go, you have to go help Medda prepare the stage! Nice dress, by the way. Looks great on ya." Jack compliments.
"Thanks Jack!" Ally reploies and twirls in her dress.
"As much as I love the dress, I can't wear it on the streets, I'd get soak'd! Turn around so I can get changed." Ally laughs.
The boys turn around and Ally puts on her regular newsie attire, pins up her hair, and puts on her hat.
"Done." Ally says after a minute.
"That was quick." Davey says.
"Well, it's been my daily routine for sixteen years." Ally chuckles.
Davey leads Ally to the window and helps her climb out.
"By the way, tell Sarah she's welcome to join us at Irving Hall too." Ally says to Davey.
He nods.
Ally leans forwards and whispers into Davey's ear:
"I'm sure Jack would love it."
Davey laughs and Ally waves as she climbs down the fire escape.
Ally and Jack make their way to Irving Hall, both excited for one hell of a performance.
