Slowly the next morning, Davey and Ally wake up. Again, they are all cuddled up in his bed.
"Mornin'" she mutters as she nuzzles into his neck.
"Mornin'" he responds with a chuckle.
They lay in bed for about another hour before getting up and getting dressed.
"Do you think Jack is ok? As much as I'm not fond of him right now, no one deserves the House of Refuge." Ally sighs.
"He'll be ok. Come on, we have to get to Tibby's. Denton wants to talk to everyone. Hopefully it'll be about getting Jack out of there." Davey says, taking Ally's hand and leading her out the bedroom door.
The rest of the Jacobs family is sitting at the table and eating dinner. Davey and Ally run by and grab pieces of bread before grabbing Les and running out the door.
"Sorry Mom, Dad. We're in a hurry!" Davey states, wrapping an arm around Ally's shoulder and leading her out the front door.
Sarah gives them a knowing look.
Once at Tibby's, Denton buys everyone food, but then tells them that he was reassigned to more "important" stories. Therefore, he wouldn't be writing anything about the newsies anymore. He gives Davey his story, which he wrote about the fight at Irving Hall. Denton wishes them luck and leaves. Davey is livid, and crumbles the article and throws it onto a table.
"We get Jack out of the Refuge tonight. From now on, we trust no one but the newsies." Davey says, taking Ally's hand and walking out of Tibby's. The rest of the newsies follow.
