Soon after they leave the alleyway, they make their way to Tibby's Restaurant for lunch. Luckily, Jack and Les were perfectly fine with Ally joining them and Denton for lunch.

While Jack and Les talk to Denton about the article and their plans for the rally, Ally and David awkwardly eat their food while making small glances at each other every so often. The tension and romance from before in the alleyway seems to have not worn off yet.

They inform Denton of Ally's situation and ask him to not write anything specifically about her gender in the article. To which he agrees, as long as he can take pictures of everyone together, including her. To which she agrees. Denton then goes off on a short rant about how it's dangerous to have her in the mix with a bunch of newsboys and the rally. Though he does it respectively and he is more concerned for her wellbeing than saying that she isn't a newsie, Ally still feels uncomfortable. David senses how uncomfortable she is at someone doubting her abilities to sell papes and to handle herself. He reaches out and takes her hand. She looks up at him and he gives her a nod of understanding and encouragement.

"I think Ally is more than capable of handling herself. After all, she's been a newsie since childhood." David states, still holding onto her hand.

Ally gives him a grateful look as Denton pays for the food and they all get up to leave.

"Ally!" Jack says to her as they leave, "Don't let anyone tell you that you're not a newsie. You're more newsie than any of us."

Ally smiles and he gives her a slap on the back.

"Come on, you can join David, Les, Boots, and I to Brooklyn." he says.

The group meets up with Boots and they make their way to Brooklyn.
