A soulmate is where two souls are linked once they turn a decade old.
And then they suffer.
Their souls are bound. If one were to take damage, the other would feel it. If one were to die, the other would go the same fate.
And as beautiful as a soulmate sounds, it feels like hell.
It has long existed since the start of the universe, and scientists still haven't discovered its origins. Some say they even gave up on it, and it will only cease to exist once the last pair of humans were to perish.
But it's not all sad and painful. I sometimes get the sense of comfort that atleast someone out there is on the same page as me. Knowing that you'd get to spend your life with the person just made for you is just bliss.

And I sometimes wished that I had been born in that universe. Where you get to have the freedom of not causing pain for your soulbound.
And I wonder if the person I'm bound with wished the same, too.
