A few days later...

Adrien straightened his back, his fingers twirling his pen as he listened to the teacher ramble on about some topic that he already knew about. He glanced to his right, seeing his best friend trying and failing to stay awake. He looked back to the front, blinking slowly as he mulled over what happened that time.

There was something on his mezzanine at that time. He was sure of it. But what could it be?

Adrien's weary gaze went to his ring, his other hand reaching to twist it absent-mindedly, accidentally scraping the skin as it tightened.

"Ow—" followed by skin making contact with skin.

Adrien instinctively turned to Dealla, who was situated at the far back beside Nathaniel. A hand was slapped over her mouth, and her head held low in what he assumed to be embarrassment as the others turned to see the commotion.

"Ms. Seinfeld, is everything alright?" Asked their teacher as she paused her lesson, worriedly looking over at Dealla, who gave a frantic nod.

The teacher's gaze went down, her eyes catching sight of Lahiffe fast asleep in his sitting position. "Mr. Agreste, if you could be a dear and help Mr. Lahiffe for a better position? His head looks like it could fall off any moment."

Adrien turned his head back to the front and nodded at his teacher, a smile plastered on his face. "Yes, Ma'am." He said as he guided Nino to let his head rest on the desk.

Once he was sure that Nino looked comfortable, Adrien leaned on the back of his seat, setting his hands on his lap, his fingers pulling up the ring on his right hand's ring finger. He bit his lip as he looked down at the red mark on where his ring was situated before.

Adrien sighed through his nose and tried to focus back on the discussion, but his peripheral caught sight of Chloé with her head resting on her palm as she stared outside the window. He felt his stomach churn, and he set his gaze on the desk, where he had subconsciously scattered some letter D's when he was doodling his alter ego.

Adrien groaned and rubbed his eyes with the heel of his palms.

He really needs to talk to his friends.

"Hey, dude!"

Adrien's eyes widened, and his heart skipped a beat, his shoulders tensing. His eyes met with his bodyguard's then his head whipped to look behind him, seeing Nino waving at him as he, Dealla, and Chloè went down the steps. His vision blurred slightly, his only focus being the three as his hand gripped the strap of his bag tightly.

His lips twitched up, and his body moved on its own to meet his three friends, but a grunt from his bodyguard stopped him halfway from fully facing the three. Adrien's shoulders relaxed, and his gaze went to the big man, seeing him gesture to his watch and then the car.

Adrien blinked slowly, and he could see his friends stop a few feet away from him, wearing assuring smiles. He met their gazes, his eyes lingering on the dark irises that stared at him unwavering.

Chloé was the one who approached him, giving him a tight hug and a kiss on both cheeks. "We'll arrange a gathering after your photo shoot, okay? You better hurry." And with that, she gave one last hug to Adrien and pushed him off towards the awaiting car behind him.

Adrien could only wave and smile in his seat as the three saw him off, with Dealla gesturing with her hands to call her once he arrived.

His eyes caught sight of the silver band on her left hand's ring finger. He blinked before meeting her gaze once more, putting a smile on his face. He didn't even get to utter a word, but he felt finally at peace.
