-She Who Loves, But Never Was-
"Since her birthday's today, how about we plan a little party at Le Grand Paris?" Nino said, looking at Adrien and Dealla on either side of the round table inside the quiet library.
"Dude, she literally stopped us from greeting her. How's a party any different from two words?" Adrien said, his lips tugged down. He twirled his pen around his fingers, looking at Nino through his lashes before glancing at Dealla. "Chloé never liked talking about her birthday."
Dealla scoffed, not looking up from her schoolwork, her writing only increasing in speed as she tightened her grip on her pen. "The only day that Chloé will mention her birthday is when her mother is here to celebrate it." She said, pushing up her glasses with one hand, "Too bad that woman failed to do so every time."
Chloé had been rambling non-stop about different topics today, mostly stopping them from greeting her with a usual "Happy Birthday!" that one of them had realized she didn't like.
Nino went quiet, mulling over his friends' words. While Chloé always mentions her mother, he realizes it's only related to how she's the best fashion designer in the entire world. Her voice would raise a pitch higher, her shoulders square, and her smiles were always forced... before befriending her, the DJ realized he didn't know the Chloé behind her bratty exterior at all. And they've been classmates since middle school.
"Well," Nino cleared his throat, his books discarded to the side in favor of prioritizing the blonde. He folded his arms in front of him, a grin on his face, "How about this: give her a new reason to love her birthday! It's a win-win situation—Chloé is happy, and so are we!"
Dealla and Adrien shared a knowing glance. Nino was practically smiling so wide that they feared it would rip his skin. Heck, he's blooming.
After a moment, Dealla nodded and set down her pen, resting her head against her fist. "Chloé loves stuffed toys—there's one in particular that I gave her six years ago as a gift—not that she knew that it was. She kept it safe." Her lips twitched, eyes locked on the table as she reminisced the day. She paused before letting out a sigh, her shoulders slightly sagging. "She's been with me through the good and bad times. I want to do something more for her."
"She's my first best friend," said Adrien, a bittersweet smile on his face. "Ever since we were in diapers." As he stood up, he glanced between Nino and Dealla, determination swimming in his gaze. "I'll do whatever I can to help you guys—for Chloé."
Nino felt warmth rush through his entire body as he pumped his fist before holding it in front of him sideways, a large grin on his face as his eyes expectantly glanced at Dealla and Adrien's fists. The latter two copied his earlier actions—one less excited as the other—and they piled their fists together before dipping it low and raising it to cheer, "For Chloé!"
The aforementioned teen sneezed into her hand, cutting off Sabrina's yapping about the possibilities of multiple universes. The two were in the almost empty courtyard, waiting for the others who had been taking so long to finish whatever they were doing.
"Bless you." quipped the redhead before clearing her throat, crossing her leg over the other, "Anyways, it's just so fascinating to think about! Like, what if one of us didn't exist in the first place and everything is so different?!"
Chloé scoffed, wiping her nose with a napkin she discarded immediately to a nearby bin. She faced and stared at Sabrina pointedly, tilting her head to the side. "Then that means Adrikins isn't a blind bat to Dupain-Cheng's feelings."
Sabrina paused before letting out a laugh, pushing up her glasses. "You're right! Marinette's really obvious with her feelings---makes me feel bad for her since Adrien couldn't see her admiration for him."
