Chapter Six || Interference Can Lead to Failure

Karl followed quietly behind the trio in front of him into the business castle, George and Sapnap seemed to try and hurry but Dream couldn't properly keep up without hissing in pain.

Karl caught up to them and stayed by Sapnap's side, he was about to say something when he saw the blaze's anxious face and stayed quiet.

When the trio eventually reached the Medical Wing, the lead doctor, a fox hybrid, rushed towards them and waved Sapnap over to a medical bed.

"What happened?" They asked as Sapnap helped Dream sit on the bed, Dream shuddered while Sapnap clenched his teeth. "Sparring incident with Prince Technoblade. They went a little... overboard." He explained, his voice faded to a whisper in the end.

The doctor nodded, "I understand, and this is Dream, correct?" They asked, Dream nodded and the doctor clicked his tongue and shook his head.

"Well, Dream, I'm Doctor Fundy. I'm honestly surprised you came out from as uninjured as you are." He replied, surprised. Dream nodded before mumbling out, "Same."

Fundy then turned to them, "I can take care of his wounds pretty quickly, you can both stay if you'd like." He said, Sapnap's face fell and turned to George, "I'll look after him, Sap, you can bring Karl to his meeting." George volunteered, Sapnap smiled gratefully before turning to Karl.

"Come on, the sooner that Prince finishes answering your questions, the better." Sapnap said darkly, Karl followed him as he walked out of the room. He didn't speak as he led Karl up numerous staircase and and through winding halls before going down another stair case and through more winding halls.

After going up a large spiral staircase, the two came across a dead end. Karl looked at it confusedly, "Where are we? This is a dead end." He asked, Sapnap smiled softly before stepping forward and pulling down on a candelabra.

Smoothly, quickly, and quietly, the dead-end wall slid upwards and revealed and hall. Sapnap stayed on the other side as Karl stepped into the abandoned hall with wonder.

The human turned towards Sapnap, "Aren't you coming?" He asked, Sapnap looked hesitant before stepping towards him. The two continued down the hall as the fake-wall slid back into place.

The halls were eery, cold, dusty, and dark. All the candles were unlit despite the wax being in place, and the windows were boarded up with stone to blend in with the walls, the frames remained though. Sapnap summoned a flame in one hand to light the hall, Karl looked at it with wonder and amazement.

The Blaze's eyes softened and he cracked a small smile at the curiosity in Karl's eyes.

Karl sneezed at the dust-filled, stale air as the two continued down the dark halls, the light of Sapnap's flame was the only thing guiding them.

Then, the two stopped in a circular room. Karl gasped in horror at the sight of it.

The walls were made of white quartz, but they were faded and spider's were spinning webs in the corners of the room, the blue carpet that covered the floor with the Arctic symbols decorating sewn into it had large rips a dark substance stained around the edges, and a few abandoned chairs and bench-like windowsills decorated the edges of the room.

One of the largest window frames, however, had been boarded up with stone. And something told Karl that someone had jumped through it.

Karl sat on one of the abandoned chairs and looked around the room curiously, Sapnap watched him from the doorway. "What happened here?" Karl asked, the blaze shrugged.

"This is the first time I've been here, we're all told about this wing of the castle but we're told to never enter it." Sapnap guessed, his gaze paused once he saw the boarded up window.
