A few mornings later, Karl was just sitting on a bench on the bridge, Quackity was sitting to his right while they watched George and Sapnap spar and go over Guard rules and techniques. Dream was working on his archery skills while yelling corrections whenever they messed up.
Sapnap had told him that morning that George and Dream, the night before, told him that they'd become official guards. Sapnap was obviously sad when they told him the reason why, but when they offered to help him be ahead of his training group like they were, he agreed.
Karl was happy, he was humming while he drew in his notebook and added little notes to people's sections, it was peaceful. The wind was blowing gently and Quackity had few free hours to spend time with them, and Karl hadn't had a problem today! Yet, at least.
He still hadn't fixed his goggles yet though, that might be a problem in the future but he honestly didn't know how exactly to fix them- the only people who he knew how to fix to them were a kingdom away as well.
"Karl- Karl, look!" Quackity said and nudged Karl a few times, the human looked up just in time to see George sweeping Sapnap's legs out from under him. Karl burst into loud laughter while Quackity tried to hide his.
Sapnap whipped his head to glare at them while George chuckled and helped him up, the blaze then looked back over and winked at them. Quackity's face turned bright red while Karl laughed and looked back to his book, ignoring his own blush.
Today was great and Karl was happy. That was all that mattered.
Someone cleared their throat behind them then, Karl had a pretty good idea as to who it was considering how George, Sapnap, and Dream were already bowing.
Karl turned to see the twin princes standing behind him, both had grim looks on their faces. Karl knew they were there for him, as they were practically staring into his soul.
"Good morning, your highnesses," Karl greeted with a bow of his head, "Is there anything I can do for you?" He asked, Wilbur spoke up, "We need to speak with you, Karl Jacobs." He said seriously, Karl sighed mentally, he knew it.
Karl nodded before standing up and following them, he didn't turn around despite the nervous and curious glances he felt on his back. The Princes and him walked off, they finally stopped one they were in a quiet part of the bridge.
"What do you need?" Karl asked politely, the princes stared at him coldly before Prince Techno spoke. "Four days ago, someone broke into my room and left me a forbidden book." Technoblade explained, "They also knocked at least half of the castle unconscious as well." He added.
Karl's eyes widened with horror, "That's horrible! How?" He asked, quieting his voice so that he wasn't yelling. Both princes exchanged looks before turning back to him.
"We have no idea, but he mentioned you saying you'd look for a book that lifted curses." Wilbur explained, Technoblade nodded and Karl thought for a second. "I did say that, but I haven't found anything yet." Karl said, he hesitated before saying, "Do you know how he got into the castle?".
Technoblade shook his head, "The front doors, our guards were knocked out and we know it was magic." He explained, "We just want to know why he mentioned you." He added, Karl looked deep in thought as his brow furrowed.
"I... don't know. This kingdom was gifted to King Philza by a god so that means most teleportation spells can't get you here." Karl mumbled loud enough for the twins to understand. "And even if you did, you'd be exhausted after performing it, you'd have no energy left to ca..." Karl trailed off as he came to realization.
