Karl followed after the King once everyone had cleared out of the throne room, he was confused as to why the King had wanted to speak to him, did he do something wrong?

Karl chose not to speak up as he was led through the halls of the castle. King Philza seemed to grow more agitated or stressed every time his foot hit the ground, his shoulders would tense and his wings would shake.

Karl tilted his head confusedly but didn't speak up about it, you're not supposed to speak up until a King tells you to, everyone knows that!

They soon arrived in Philza's office, the King opened the door and waved Karl inside. The second Karl was out of the way, Philza shut the door loudly, earning a squeak from Karl.

"Karl." King Philza said with a deep breath, "I must apologize for the lack of manners, but what the hell just happened in the throne room?" He asked, Karl tensed- how was he getting out of this?

"Erm, well, uh-" Karl tried before exhaling and trying again, "I have memory issues." He settled for, Philza raised an eyebrow. "Bad enough to forget the Princes of the empire keeping you safe? As well as a human- that you've made it clear- you hate?" He asked, Karl nodded.

"It... tends to be worse." Karl answered as he anxiously fiddled with his hands. Philza rubbed his temples before sitting down behind the desk, "Sit down then, Karl, we need to talk." The king said, Karl gulped nervously before sitting on a chair in front of the desk.

Philza's eyes were softer than Karl had ever seen towards him, "Please explain your memory issues, Karl, maybe I can help." He asked, Karl anxiously folded his hands in his lap before beginning to explain.

"It happens randomly, most of the time." He lied, Karl knew for fact that it wasn't random, he knew the stem of his memory issues drew from his travels and adventures.

"It's why I have my notebooks- they're so severe that, sometimes, I forget places, people, one time I forgot how to speak." Karl sighed and ran a hand through his hair, a few someones with a blurry faces had to reteach him English and Enchanted, he wished he remembered who they were.

The King looked shocked, but Karl went on. "I had people back in Malevina to assist me with my memory issues, but I forgot who they are." Karl laughed, "Rather ironic, isn't it?" He choked out with shame in his eyes.

Karl looked up to see clear pity in the King's eyes, "It's- I've had the problems since I was fifteen, and I've tried to get rid of them permanently, but the closest I've gotten are my goggles and the notebooks, nothing else works." Karl added, he wanted to cry, he wanted Sapnap and Quackity.

"Karl," the King spoke softly, the human didn't hear him though and kept rambling on and on about how he failed, "Karl." Philza repeated, albeit stronger though.

The human looked up at the King, "You forgot my sons today, but I understand your situation." He spoke calmingly, "If you need help with you Memory Issues, please tell me. I'm sure I can help in someway." The King spoke, Karl nodded tearfully.

"You are dismissed, go get some rest." Phil told him, Karl nodded before hurrying out of the room and not looking back. His boyfriends would most likely be on the bridge, he just had to figure out where that was.

Karl wandered aimlessly around the castle for Time knows how long, he climbed stairs and entered rooms he didn't know what their use was. This continued on for awhile until a tall man with ram horns took pity on him and showed Karl to the bridge.

He didn't respond when Karl asked for his name, Karl was confused but thanked him anyway and went on his way to search the entire bridge for his loves.

Half an hour later, Karl had barely even searched a quarter of where he assumed Sapnap and Quackity were. He sighed and collapsed under a snow-covered tree, he was tired and lonely. A little rest wouldn't hurt anyone.
