Karl was having a wonderful sleep. His dreams weren't vivid, and they weren't terrifying to him. Instead, they were warm and nice, he felt happy in them. The only problem was that they were blurry, there were people there, he knew that, but he couldn't see their faces.
He was pulled out of those dreams to knocks on his door. He immediately shot up in his bed that was oddly comfortable- had he slept in? Oh gods, sleeping in meant the General would hit him, ban him from the kitchen tent- or make him work double the amount.
He then recognized his surroundings and sighed with relief. He wasn't in the camp anymore, he was safe- and as far as he knew, King Philza wasn't rude, manipulative, or hurtful.
"I'll, um, I'll be right there!" He said, he looked over to his window. The sun told him that it was nine am, he gasped, he had slept in! Why didn't anyone wake him? He threw the covers off of him and ran into the closet. He quickly threw on a lavender sweater and purple cloak with black boots before running to the door.
Karl grabbed his notebooks and practically threw himself out of the room, he would've hit the floor if Sapnap hadn't caught him. "Whoa," Sapnap said in response as he put Karl down and steadied him, "What's the rush?" He asked.
Karl looked up with panic, "It's nine am! Don't we have work to do?" He said frantically, Sapnap smiled at him softly. "Karl, it's alright. I already finished training and my lessons for this morning, and you don't need to do anything." He explained softly, Karl sighed with relief.
"Are- Are you sure? There's always something that needs to be done- extra lessons? Work? What is it?" He asked, Sapnap sighed and grabbed Karl's hands comfortingly. "Karl, there's nothing that you need to do. We're just going to meet Q at the library so you can hopefully regain some memory back." Sapnap explained calmly.
Karl nodded hesitantly, there was no work for him? It made no sense, something was always required of him. Sapnap smiled at him before leading him through the halls.
Sapnap watched Karl's face quickly shift from one of worry to one of wonder as they walked through the halls, Karl would whisper about the beauty of the castle they walked. He gasped once he saw the bridge, reminding Sapnap of when he'd first arrived.
Sapnap lead him into the other castle, Karl looked around with wonder again. He smiled and lead him through the winding and impossible corridors of the castle, eventually reaching the library.
Sapnap opened the door to let Karl in, the human gasped at the sight of the giant library again. Sapnap entered after that, still wearing a giant grin.
Quackity was waiting for them when they arrived, he grinned at them as he walked up to greet them. "Right on time, you two!" Quackity greeted them, Karl grinned at him, "This library is amazing." He said breathlessly.
Quackity grinned at his excitement, "It really is, but we're here to try and help you remember. Now, where do we start?" He asked determinedly, Karl stared at him in response.
It caused an awkward silence between them before Sapnap spoke up, "Let's just find a table and go from there?" He guessed, Quackity and Karl agreed with him. The trio walked farther into the library, they stopped once they found an isolated table with three chairs.
They sat down and Karl laid his books out before him, "Which- which one do we start with?" He asked nervously, they all looked at the identical notebooks, realizing that was an excellent question.
"Um, what about the one on the left?" Quackity suggested, Sapnap nodded and Karl picked it up and opened to the first page. He groaned as he was greeted with a bunch of writing.
